1–What is the title of your latest release? A LADY TO TREASURE 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? A sparkling Regency romance inspired by Jane Austen, Georgette Heyer and Gentleman Jack 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? Since it’s a Regency romance, it could only be England! Although Louisa is American, so the book starts in New York. However, she’s soon sailing across the Atlantic, on the hunt for a rich husband. She has heard much regarding the eccentricities of the English aristocracy but has no clue what’s in store for her. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? I think Louisa and I would be firm friends. In today’s language, she’d be considered a bit of a nerd, which means she and I would have much in common (I’m a scientist by day). As for Sarah, I’d probably be too intimidated to approach her (she’s formidable and does not suffer fools). However, she would be the most loyal and generous friend in the world, if only you could get past her brusque self-reliance and stiff-upper lip. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? The question doesn’t apply…
1–What is the title of your latest release? LION OF FIRE, Book 1, Riley Jordan & The Fire Prophecies 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Riley Jordan, a college senior, goes from “least likely to succeed” to the world’s most dangerous wizard. After uncovering a plot to destroy humankind, Riley is plagued by dark visions of destruction involving an unsuspecting human girl he just met named Emma Clark, who he can’t get out of his head. Struggling to control his powers, Riley and his three best friends must portal-hop between magical realms to fight the darkness and discover the truth. Now, with graduation and Armageddon looming, Riley must face his own fears and learn how to protect those he loves before it’s too late. Lion of Fire will take you on your own journey of self-discovery and make you face the reality of one simple truth – we can let others define us, or we can be the hero in our own story. Riley Jordan will make you believe there is a hero in all of us. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I picked some of my favorite places from all…
1–What is the title of your latest release? A STRANGER IN THE CITADEL 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? In a world where gods banned reading, librarians wander the wastes with something that could get them killed on the spot: books. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I honestly have no clue, like many creative things, it was an idea that slowly bubbled up into my brain and took hold until I couldn’t ignore it. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? No. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Naive, eager to learn, on the cusp of great educational growth. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? The names of all the enslaved people that George Washington kept on his estate. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? Both. 8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence? My local vegan restaurant has a “TLT” which is tempeh, lettuce, and tomato with avocado. It’s delicious. I have one so often there one of the waitresses calls it the “Tobias LT.” 9–Describe your writing space/office! I just built a new home, so it’s a tiny…
1–What is the title of your latest release? THE WIDOW’S FATE 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Two royal brothers fight over a wealthy heiress before she mysteriously disappears. Can the royal poisoner Ankarette find the missing woman before someone even more dangerous does? 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? The city of Kingfountain is a fabled place in this world where dynasties have clashed and Fountain magic holds sway. In this book, I wanted to have the readers explore places in the city they’ve never been before and meet new characters they’ll fall in love with. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Absolutely yes! A reader favorite is the enigmatic poisoner, Ankarette Tryneowy. She’s clever, she’s dangerous, but she tries to solve problems diplomatically before pulling a dagger. One day, I hope Kingfountain gets turned into a TV show or movie and I get a chance to meet whoever plays her. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Cunning, Caring, Loyal 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I visited England while writing this book and got to visit the torture chambers in the Tower…
Book Title: WHAT YOU DO TO ME Character Name: Cecilia James How would you describe your family or your childhood? My childhood was magical. Two parents who adored each other, music thread through our lives like another child. Joplin. Stone Poneys. Mom was beautiful and daring; Dad was patient and ever-present. Our home was loud and colorful, filled with friends and parties and laughter. Until Dad found Tori. And everything fell apart. What was your greatest talent? For starters, hating my father, Don James. When he left my mother, Gloria, he stripped the music and joy from our lives. When I signed on at Rolling Stone magazine, I channeled all that anger into my work, because music was at my very core. I ached for music, believed music was the only way for me to express myself. And it was. This passion fueled my grit and determination to succeed. Ultimately, hating Don James served a purpose and made me unstoppable. Significant other? My sexy, photojournalist boyfriend Pete. He interprets the world through pictures; I interpret the world through song. Together, we should have been two halves of a whole, but those differences pulled us apart. I know….

Until the age of ten I was raised by my mother. My father was long gone. After my mother’s murder, I lived for a time with my grandmother, then on the streets of Edinburgh before finding my way to London What was your greatest talent? Survival to be certain. Life is hard on the streets. Ye live by yer wits and skills ye pick up along the way… If ye live long enough. Significant other? Significant–now there is something I never thought of the way I’ve lived—on the streets, then with the MP, and now with my own inquiry cases. Life is hard and uncertain. Then there is someone who comes along unexpected… someone who is intelligent, stubborn, fearless and makes me want things I once thought I could never have. She is unpredictable, frustrates the devil out of me, and I canna imagine my life without her. Ye know who I mean. Biggest challenge in relationships? Trust. The one I spoke of earlier; I know that…
Book Title: PAWS TO REMEMBER Character Name: Kathleen Paulson How would you describe your family or your childhood? I think the best word to describe my family is eclectic. My parents are actors. My younger brother, Ethan, is a musician and my younger sister, Sarah, is a filmmaker. (Sarah and Ethan are twins.) At any given time when I was growing up, Mom and Dad could be rehearsing for a play—and staying in character twenty-four hours a day. Ethan was often practicing with his band, The Flaming Gerbils. And Sarah was helping with make-up and costumes and filming everything. It was never boring! What was your greatest talent? I think my greatest talent was and is my ability to organize any situation. My parents and siblings are very creative people. I’m the one who always made sure we had socks, toilet paper and clean clothes. I’m also very, very good at road hockey and pinball. Where do you live? I live in Mayville Heights, Minnesota. I came here to supervise the renovations to the library for its centennial and ended up staying. The town has been incredibly welcoming. How do you feel about the place where…
What is the title of your latest release? ABOVE ‘N’ BEYOND, the seventh and final book in the Federal K-9 series. What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Romeo & Juliet Meet Donnie Brasco… An undercover cop falls in love with his target’s niece. When she discovers his true identity, will she dime him out or work with him to bring down her family’s criminal organization? How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I try to mix things up in every book in the same series. There’s a nice restaurant-antique town in Rockland County, NY called Nyack. Even though this area was colonized by the Dutch, Nyack is named after an American Indian tribe. That’s where this story mainly takes place. Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Definitely! Bella is fun, snarky, has a spitfire personality, went to culinary school and loves to cook, owns her own Italian (my fave cuisine) bistro, stocks good wine in her restaurant, and loves dogs. Bella is the perfect friend. What are three words that describe your hero? Selfless. Courageous. Wounded. What’s something you learned while writing this…
1–What is the title of your latest release? SHADOWS AT DUSK, Missing in Alaska book 2 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Bush Pilot Carrie James assists Detective Trevor West on his quest to find his sister missing in Alaska. With a killer on the loose, the danger rises and the stakes have never been higher when someone tries to end them for good. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I love setting my stories in stunning locations which gives me the opportunity to add in adventure. The focus of the Missing in Alaska series is Southeast Alaska and a fictional town called Shadow Gap. Given that my protagonist is a bush pilot, I knew I needed the story to take the reader on a wild ride through the Panhandle region of Alaska. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? While I love Carrie James, I’m not sure I want to be in a plane with her, since I personally don’t enjoy flying. Ha! Then again it could totally be worth it to get a view of the amazing Alaska sunrise and the landscape in general….
