Skyla Arndt | Conversations in Character with Wilhelmina “Wil” Greene
Author Guest / August 30, 2023

Book Title: TOGETHER WE ROT Character Name: Wilhelmina “Wil” Greene   Tell me, Wilhelmina. What’s your family like? What about your childhood? Just Wil please. (Kicking shoes onto the desk, arms crossed) And I don’t know…things used to be fine. Better than fine, actually. Back when Mom was around, she had a way of making the world feel alive around her—we’d spend summer picking dandelions and drinking lemonade, sprucing up the walls of our family motel with painted handprints. For a hot second in my life, I’d actually say I was happy. Things went right to hell the moment she went missing. Now the paint is peeling, the lights are flickering, and the motel is a vacant eye sore off the road. Don’t even get me started on my father. The man’s in his room day in and day out drinking until he passes out. That’s all he knows how to do anymore. I’m the only one keeping anything glued together and I’m doing a godawful job at it.   (Noticing the interviewer staring at the muddy imprints of her sneakers) What? No shoes on your desk? Fine.   So, what does the name “Elwood Clarke” mean to you? I…

Eva Devon | A Duke Devoted to Justice Helps a Dressmaker
Author Guest / August 30, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? THE DUKE AND THE DRESSMAKER 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? When a dressmaker borrows money from a notorious money lender to help her little sister, her life is about to fall apart. . . But a duke devoted to justice steps in and just might steel her heart. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I adore the early Regency period and Lily is a character from The Beast and the Bookseller, so I knew the book would take place in London. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Absolutely. Both of them. They are fun, love to laugh, and both very wounded. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Determined, intelligent, grit. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? The Lock Asylum was a place of voluntary admission! Though the Lock doesn’t play heavily in this book, I thought it was very interesting. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? I write the whole thing then go back usually, or in sections. 8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence? Chocolate cake all the way!…

Emily Brightwell | A Man is Murdered and Everybody is a Suspect
Author Guest / August 30, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? My latest release is MRS. JEFFRIES AIMS TO WIN….and I had a blast writing it.  I’ve always enjoyed writing my books, but this one was really special. 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? What happens when a man who is just this side of evil ends up dead in a place where everyone, and I mean everyone, has a good reason to want him gone from the face of the earth? 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? My books are already set in a very specific universe so it’s very easy for me.  I simply decide how many days/weeks/months have passed since my last book.  For this one, the time frame isn’t very long….not to give any secrets away, but there’s a reason the time frame is somewhat short. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? I have a ‘household’ full of protagonists – and I would hang out with any of them/all of them in a hot second! These are people who realize that a life worth living doesn’t just mean surviving, it means you do what’s right, regardless of…

Sharina Harris | Vampire Diaries Meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Author Guest / August 29, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? SIGN OF THE SLAYER   2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Vampire Diaries meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer in this fast-paced, modern paranormal romance. Raven is just your average high school student until the day she’s attacked by rogue vampires.  Now not only is she a reluctant vampire hunter for the Slayer Society, but she’s walking a thin line between love and hate for the powers surging inside of her and the one guy she thought she could trust…the same one who brought her to the society in the first place.   3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I love Atlanta and I’ve been living here for twenty years. For me, it just made sense to elevate the city I adore.   4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Absolutely, especially teenage Sharina. She’s a loyal friend who will put her friend’s needs above her own.   5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Sarcastic, kick-ass, impulsive.   6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? My vampire slayers use alchemy to fight vampires, so I learned a lot about Alchemy in terms of history, theory, and famous Alchemists….

Shakir Rashaan | Bel-Air Meets Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger
Author Guest / August 29, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? NEVERWRAITH 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? A YA Urban Fantasy where Bel-Air meets Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, swirling around a young, gifted, and Black metahuman who searches for the truth about himself and his connection to a centuries-old blood feud. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? As far as Oakwood Grove, that was easy. Outside of New Orleans, there’s not too many other places in the US that has more mysticism and paranormal lore than Savannah, but I wanted to create a town that served more as a suburb of Savannah, even though I did have my cast spend some time in Savannah for different reasons. As for my fictional Island Republic of Kindara, I originally wanted the book to take place in a fictional West African country, but eventually I decided a fictional island country that was close to the West African coast gave me more to play with when it came to world-building. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Absolutely! I’m like another uncle to Yasir LOL! He’s a cool kid, smart as a whip (he’s a…

Lydia Sharp | A Virgin Secretly Hooks Up with Her Frenemy
Author Guest / August 29, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? FRENEMIES WITH BENEFITS   2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? What happens when a virgin secretly hooks up with her frenemy to learn all about sex during the summer after graduating high school?   3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? The story is set in Trinity, Pennsylvania. It’s not like this for all stories I write, but for this one in particular, the setting didn’t have to be anything more specific than “a suburb in the Midwest” so I just made one up. I’m familiar with Pittsburgh, the big city that Trinity is a suburb of, and maybe that’s why it came to mind. I didn’t think “this place has to be near Pittsburgh” that’s just what happened to come up when I started writing, and it worked, so I kept it.   4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Absolutely. I love her. We’d have so much fun together.   5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Shy. Snarky. Brave.   6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? While writing, I wasn’t thinking that deeply about it. It…

Samantha Young | Conversations in Character with Star Shine Meadows
Author Guest / August 29, 2023

Book Title: THE LOVE PLOT Character Name: Star Shine Meadows   How would you describe your family or your childhood? It was kind of lonely. I grew up the only child of hippie parents who moved us around the US a lot and forgot I existed half the time, so I pretty much raised myself. They did instill me with a laidback and free-spirited attitude toward life. Plus, I was thankful they never pressured me to be anything but who I wanted to be as a kid.   What was your greatest talent? I’m a people person and I think that’s my greatest talent. I have a way of bringing people out of themselves and making them feel seen for who they really are.   Significant other? Only one? Ha! No, seriously, as much as I believe two people can fall in love and stay committed to one another, I’m just not that girl. I watched my parents’ love consume them and, well, yeah, no thank you. Though, I will admit to being skin-tinglingly hyperaware of Rafe Whitman. The man is a mountain of sexy contradictions and totally my opposite. He’s also technically my employer since he’s paying me to…

Amanda Cox | Beekeeper Navigates Life and Fights for Her Dreams

But then she learns that to gain her inheritance she’ll be forcing Beckett Walsh to sell the only place she feels safe in the world. Callie is certain she has no right to someone else’s farm, but when her mother reenters her life seeking help for her lifelong issues with substance use, Callie is desperate to help. Author Guest / August 28, 2023

Book Title: HARLEM AFTER MIDNIGHT Character Name: Lena Aldridge   How would you describe your family or your childhood? The best person I’ve ever known was my father, Alfie. Of course, it turns out he kept quite a few secrets from me but I know he had his reasons. Growing up, it was just the two of us and I hope he’s proud of the woman I’ve become.   What was your greatest talent? Singing! And I act as well but it’s the music I love.   Significant other? It’s complicated…   Biggest challenge in relationships? I often forget to look before I leap.   Where do you live?
