Nancy Naigle | A Woman Rediscovers Her Courage, Self, and a Reason to Risk Love Again
Author Guest / June 30, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? AND THEN THERE WAS YOU   2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Natalie Maynard has fallen prey to a Romeo con and is now seeking refuge in the only thing she still owns, her late husband’s old hunting cabin up in the mountains of Chestnut Ridge. With the help of the town and determination of Detective Randy Fellowes, she rediscovers her courage, self, and a reason to risk love again.   3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? You know I’m a beach girl. Born and raised in Virginia Beach and spending downtime in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, I’ve spent most of my life along the coast. A couple of years ago, I bought a horse farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Being a native of Virginia, I was shocked by how much I didn’t know about this region. The terrain is breathtaking, and I’ve fallen in love with this part of the state and all its lore. This book kicks off a new series for me, set in the fictional town of Chestnut Ridge where you might find fairy stones and see…

Elisse Hay | An Obsession Fueled Group of Magi
Author Guest / June 30, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? VILLAINS BY NECESSITY 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? An obsession fueled group of magi are coming for her client speaking words of love. Good thing she’s bad at listening. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? Villains is the second book in a series. I actually wrote book 1 and 3 before I wrote Villains, which fits between them. So it was mostly to do with the “missing untold story”. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Maybe, if she’d sit still for long enough and wasn’t covered in blood. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Headstrong, tough, and vulnerable. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? To really home in on where the action starts and stops during fight scenes. This book is high action, and sometimes the conflict rolls into more conflict. Keeping that pace up is exhausting to read, though, so I needed to identify the core elements of the conflict, so it was digestible. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? Sort of both. When I sit down…

Author Guest / June 29, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? RULING DESTINY   2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?  RULING DESTINY is the sequel to STEALING INFINITY – a sexy, thrilling, fast-paced tale about a teen with an unusual gift who’s sent to a secret academy for time traveling art thieves, only to find herself caught in an elaborate puzzle of history and time where she just might be one of the missing pieces…RULING DESTINY picks up right where STEALING INFINITY left off, with the romance hotter and the stakes even higher. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place?  I loved the idea of an opulent, off the grid academy, where the students live among priceless pieces of art, and where every luxury they could ever desire is theirs for the taking. The only catch is they can never leave, except when they’re sent back in time to steal precious jewels and art.   4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?  When we first met Natasha, she’s a lot like I was at that age. My high school years were tough, filled with struggle and financial hardships. Like her, I was ditching…

1–What is the title of your latest release? LAST BRIDE STANDING (Majestic Maine Book 3)   2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?  After losing a bet with her sisters about finding true love, a woman’s prepared to bite the bullet and take an arranged marriage to save her family’s business, but the arrogant man doesn’t want to marry her after all, so she ups the ante with a larger wager – where winner takes all, but two hearts may fall.   3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place?  This is the third book in a trilogy set in the idyllic seaside town of Majestic Maine. I wanted to create a setting that was scenic yet homey so readers would feel welcomed there, and want to stay.   4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?  Definitely! (Both her sisters, too.)   5–What are three words that describe your hero? Headstrong, smart, sexy.   6–What’s something you learned while writing this book?  That sometimes your characters surprise you, just as Charlotte did with her big breakthrough (aha moment) near the end.   7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you…

Ashley Poston | Conversations in Character with Clementine West
Author Guest / June 29, 2023

Book Title: THE SEVEN YEAR SLIP Character Name: Clementine West   How would you describe your family or your childhood? You know the song “How do you solve a problem like Maria?” That’s me.   What was your greatest talent? My greatest talent is somehow always being in the wrong place at the wrong time.   Significant other? There’s never been anything significant about them.   Biggest challenge in relationships? Communication and growing with your partner. You change throughout your life, right? It only makes sense for them to change, too. The trick is, apparently, growing and changing together, and loving the person they are becoming just as much as you loved the person they were.   Where do you live? In a small apartment I inherited from my late aunt in the Upper East Side of New York City.   Do you have any enemies? The pigeons, Mother and Fucker.   How do you feel about the place where you are now? Is there something you are particularly attached to, or particularly repelled by, in this place? I have… mixed feelings about my aunt’s apartment. For a variety of reasons.   Do you have children, pets, both, or neither?…

Christine Pride & Jo Piazza | Conversations in Character with Cinnamon Haynes
Author Guest / June 28, 2023

Book Title: YOU WERE ALWAYS MINE Character Name: Cinnamon Haynes   How would you describe your family or your childhood? In a word, tough.   What was your greatest talent? I can fall asleep at the drop of a hat, anywhere, anytime.  Or at least I used to be able to, before Bluebell came into my life and everything changed– including my sleep.   Significant other? Jayson, my husband, who could sell holy water to the devil with the right sweet talk.   Biggest challenge in relationships? Trust   Where do you live? A pretty coastal town in the South   Do you have any enemies? None – that I know of at least.   Is there something you are particularly attached to, or particularly repelled by, in this place? The silver lining of my upbringing is that I can figure out how to be content enough just about anywhere.   Do you have children, pets, both, or neither? Before Bluebell, I’d never taken care of a living thing in my life, not even a plant.   What do you do for a living? I’m a career counselor at the local community college, helping kids reach for a better life,…

Meri Allen | A Lavish Halloween Themed Wedding and Murder
Author Guest / June 28, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? FATAL FUDGE SWIRL 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Hard to do without spoilers! Riley Rhodes, a former CIA librarian who now runs the Udderly Delicious Ice Cream Shop, has been tasked with making a lavish Halloween themed wedding cake for the owner of Penniman’s Inn on the Green. But a murder at the Inn puts Riley at the center of a police investigation and in the murderer’s crosshairs. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? One fall weekend I visited an ice cream shop in the northeast part of Connecticut – what we call the Quiet Corner. Full of farms, rolling hills, and beautiful country lanes bordered by stone walls and fields of sunflowers, it felt like I’d stumbled into the perfect setting for my series. 4–Would you hang out with your sleuth in real life? Absolutely! Riley and I share a love of travel, books, and food. 5–What are three words that describe your sleuth? Riley is curious, loyal, and adventurous. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? Because I included a character who is a celebrity chef who specializes in molecular…

Catherine McKenzie | Search and Rescue Squad Look for Disappeared Couple
Author Guest / June 28, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? HAVE YOU SEEN HER 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? A woman who is running away from her life in New York joins the search and rescue squad in Yosemite but soon gets embroiled in the disappearance of a young couple. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? My sister and brother-in-law worked search and rescue in Yosemite for five years, so I had some inside scoop. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Definitely. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Naive, brave, trusting. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? A lot of technical rock-climbing terms. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? I edit as I write, but a chapter at a time – so each chapter I read over once or twice and then move to the next. 8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence? A criminal psychiatrist with her own dark secrets visits a secluded boarding school to assist a PI investigating the mysterious death of a student found on campus. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? Definitely! She’s trying her best and could use a friend. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Determined, anxious, pensive. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I learned a lot about how to craft characters so they stand apart from one another. For example, I had to teach myself how to effectively introduce multiple characters at once without making them all melt together. Each must have their own temperament and characterizations to make them memorable. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? When I sit down to start writing,…
