Even some of his friends are in the FBI, CIA and… Originally uploaded by freshfiction. Dressed in a dark navy suit with starched blue shirt, Daniel Silva is admittedly a “formal” kind of guy. Standing before a crowd of nearly sixty (yes, I counted them, or estimated by rows plus the standees) avid readers, he took questions about his choice of villain, his childhood and life in Washington, D.C. A former journalist Silva has friends in the CIA, FBI and other government agencies. He’s also married to NBC correspondent Jamie Gangel. Some of his own personal favorite reads are by other spy masters including the great John le Carré, so I felt we had something in common. Can’t wait to read a European spy book. Our trusty photographer took the command to “get more pictures this time” and inundated us with some from every angle although she almost fell down on the job when it was finally my turn to get our book signed. Description in a word: erudite Description in a nutshell: Tall, short-haired, clean shaven with a tan, Daniel Silva although soft-spoken probably does the New York Times crossword with a pen each week. Check out the photos…

I’m so late, but hey, it’s still the same month! Got a chance to go with the DFW Tea group to the the Will Clarke launch of his latest — THE WORTHY, A GHOST’S STORY — at the Lincoln Park Barnes and Noble in Dallas. A very healthy crowd of people were there to greet Will and get their mitts on the latest. Although, this book was actually written ten years ago it is very in the vogue. THE WORTHY is the story of a dead frat pledge and his vengance on his killers in Louisiana. Filled with colorful characters that bring back fond memories of Louisiana and southern college life, THE WORTHY is a great read and I refuse to give up my copy, so go get your own! Check out the signing photos Sara posted on the Fresh Fiction Flickr page — should be under the Worthy set. Visit FreshFiction.com to learn more about books and authors.
Harry Hunsicker Signing Originally uploaded by freshfiction. We went to the party at the Cigar Bar in Javier’s Gourmet Mexciano Restaurant in Dallas to celebrate the release of Harry Hunsicker‘s latest thriller — NEXT TIME YOU DIE. Set in Dallas, and being labeled as “Dallas Noir.” NEXT TIME YOU DIE is the second outing with Lee HENRY Oswald. Some film critics in the group think “Dallas Noir” is a bit far-fetched since the amount of rain in the book was minimal. But you have to work with what you get, and Dallas is going through a drought thank you very much. The other elements of noir were VERY present and enjoyed by this reader. Including shady characters, a cold-blooded siren, and a fast-paced read through “mean” streets and back alleys of Dallas. Poor Hank, he’s got a long road to travel very quickly, finding a missing folder for an alcoholic Baptist preacher brings back some bad memories and characters from the past to mix with a current ecclectic group in his present. NEXT TIME YOU DIE was a great read and should NOT BE MISSED! Visit FreshFiction.com to learn more about books and authors.
Book Expo 2006-Arrrgh! Pirates in the food court Originally uploaded by freshfiction. From May 2006 — some of the Fresh Fiction team members attended the Book Expo in Washington, DC for THREE DAYS. I emphasize the THREE DAYS because it is a grueling but exhilarating experience. However, our Miss Gwen is the one who attracted all the eyes — in this case Captain Jack Sparrow — the swaggering sea worthy! We’re not sure which book he was hawking, but he was definitely interesting. We also saw JENNIFER WEINER and many more, some pictures are in our Flickr account under Book Expo. We invite you to check them out. Visit FreshFiction.com to learn more about books and authors.
