Jeaniene Frost | An Epic Reunion from Bones’ POV

April 20, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release?

BOTH FEET IN THE GRAVE

2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

If you thought you knew the iconic vampire, Bones, think again! THIS is Bones, in his own words this time.

3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

The setting was pre-determined since it covers the locales from a prior book, so it takes place in Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, and New York.

4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

I’d love to, but vampires, ghouls, or evil ghosts are always trying to kill her, so I probably wouldn’t survive! Lol.

5–What are three words that describe your hero?

Badass. Devoted. Vampire.

6–What’s something you learned while writing this book?

That there really are two sides to every story, and you don’t have the complete picture until you’ve read both of them.

7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I edit while I draft, to my detriment. Sometimes, I will fiddle with a chapter to the point that it really slows down my progress before I force myself to move on.

8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Anything fried. Yum!

9–Describe your writing space/office!

I have two desks very close to each other, and each has its own computer. One desk/computer is solely for writing, and the other desk/computer is solely for doing research, business emails, blog posts, interviews, more work stuff, and the all-important trawling the internet for cute animal videos when I need an emotional pick-me-up.

10–Who is an author you admire?

There are too many to list. Seriously. I’ve been an avid reader since age ten, so I couldn’t narrow it down to fifty authors, let alone just one.

11–Is there a book that changed your life?

Probably SKYE O’MALLEY by Bertrice Small because it was the first romance I ever read, and it instantly addicted me to the genre. The rest, as they say, is history.

12–Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

It actually was an email, because my agent was at a convention, and she didn’t have my phone number. I was at work when I opened that email, and I screamed so loud that my boss came running into my office, thinking the server had just crashed or something. I pointed at my computer and said, “Tell me that this email says what I think it says” because I could no longer read it. I was crying too much from joy.

13–What’s your favorite genre to read?

Supernatural fiction of all kinds, be it supernatural romance, mystery, contemporary, or horror. If it has a supernatural element, I’m all in!

14–What’s your favorite movie?

Same answer as before—I can’t pick just one. I don’t think I could pick just one if you broke it down by favorite comedy, favorite drama, favorite rom-com, or favorite holiday movie. Mood plays a big part, because if I’m in the mood for a drama, for example, I could watch a great comedy and it would still fall flat simply because it’s not what I’m craving.

15–What is your favorite season?

Probably fall, because the changing leaves are so beautiful, and the cooler weather is such a relief after the sweltering summer.

16–How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

A nice dinner out with my husband, followed by lots of cake back at home. Hey, calories don’t count on your birthday, right? wink

17–What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

For recent tv shows, I loved WEDNESDAY and LOCKWOOD AND CO on Netflix.

For recent movies, I really liked VIOLENT NIGHT and COCAINE BEAR, which would shock no one who knows my twisted sense of humor.

For recent books, THE RAVENOUS DEAD by Darcy Coates and ELECTRIC IDOL by Katee Robert.

18–What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

You know by now that I can’t pick just one, right? The most I can narrow it down is by saying Italian, Asian, and Mexican. I usually go for one of those three when I have a craving.

19–What do you do when you have free time?

Binge watch new television shows or read. You can tell that I’m a story addict because both of those involve experiences stories. Only the delivery method differs.

20–What can readers expect from you next?

That’s up in the air, because I’m currently working on a new story that’s unrelated to any of my other books. At the moment, I don’t know if it will turn into anything publishable because I’m writing it just for me, which is both wonderful and a little scary. But I’m not giving myself unlimited time to tinker with it. So, if this doesn’t turn into a novella or a novel within three months, I’ll move onto something else. I certainly have a bunch of stories left to tell in my vampire universe, and those will only wait so long before they crowd my brain demanding to be written next.

Night Huntress

Both Feet in the Grave

If you thought you learned more about the dangerous and sexy alpha vampire, Bones, in the USA Today bestselling scorcher, THE OTHER HALF OF THE GRAVE, you haven’t seen anything yet…

Cat disappeared from Bones’ life to protect him, but this Master vampire will keep his promise to find her.

Two hundred years of bounty hunting made Bones the best at what he does, yet it’s still taken him four long years to find Cat, the half vampire now known as the “Red Reaper.” There’s a price on Cat’s head, and not even her job as a secret government agent can save her. Only Bones can. But has time hardened Bones too much to love again? Or will his passion for Cat burn through every obstacle—alive, undead, or otherwise—between them?

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Night Huntress series comes a fresh, new perspective on the origin saga of Cat and Bones, in Bones’ own words…
