Alicia Hunter Pace Exclusive Except: SHINE LIKE SILVER (Good Southern Women, book 3.)   Tonight is the night. After dating since their teens, Skip Landry is finally going to propose to Ava Grace Fairchild at the annual Christmas Gala, as Landry men have done for the last three generations. He was on one knee, in front of three hundred people. All was going according to plan—until he closed the ring box and said, “I can’t do this.”     The room exploded into chaos. Ava Grace bowed her head and closed her eyes, but only for a second. As much as she wanted to, she couldn’t check out. When she looked up again, her brother was staring at her with one part compassion and two parts fury. It was the fury that concerned her. She’d seen that look before and what followed never came to anything good. “Emerson,” she called, but it was too late. He had already jumped off the stage and was hot on Skip’s heels. “Skip!” Emerson exploded. “Stop right there! We are going to have a conversation! Emma Frances looked from Ava Grace to Emerson, wild-eyed, and then turned to her husband. “Buck! Do something. This…

Alicia Hunter Pace | 20 Questions: SMOOTH AS SILK
Author Guest / February 25, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? SMOOTH AS SILK   2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?  attract story, haphazard, pro hockey player Robbie MacTavish, in his tattered kilt and mismatched socks, is the last person ambitious, prim Hyacinth Dawson wants in her life—no matter how charming he is. But she needs his help in order to get her bridal shop on the reality show, All Dressed in White. Is surviving with her heart intact possible?   3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? All of my books are set in the South, so that was a given. I wanted a larger city for the setting for a new professional hockey franchise, but the story needed a small town feel. Since Birmingham, Alabama doesn’t have an NHL team, but has several upscale suburbs, it seemed a natural. The team could play their games in downtown Birmingham, with offices and the practice rink twenty minutes away in the fictional village, Laurel Springs.   4–Would you hang out with Hyacinth in real life? Yes, though I would probably enjoy it more toward the end of the book after she has loosened up a bit!…

In this except, they have been shopping and a salesperson mistook them for a married couple. *** “I can’t believe she thought we were married.” Jake laughed. “I could have told her you were in my wedding, all right. You just weren’t the bride.” And in a split second, the laughter died on Evie’s face. “Jake, I wasn’t.” She hadn’t been in that Cecil B. Demille production of a wedding? At least fourteen women had marched down that aisle wearing dresses the color of Bazooka bubble gum; surely Evie had been one of them. “You weren’t? I could have sworn…” How could he have missed that? Evie smiled a sad little smile. “To be fair there was a lot of pink tulle and ruffles going on with those dresses. It was hard to see who…
