Susan May Warren | Exclusive Excerpt: ONE LAST SHOT
Excerpt / March 12, 2024

“Boo, wait,” said Oaken, but she flashed him a smile. “We’re good, Oaken. See you tomorrow.” Then she headed outside. The sun was still up but falling into the backside of Mt. Talachulitna, gold shining upon the whitened peaks, bronzing the waters of Cook Inlet. She unlocked the Rogue and it beeped. “Boo, wait up!” What is with this guy? She opened the back door, threw her pack in, and turned. He jogged up to her. Stopped. Met her eyes, hands on his hips, and took a breath. “What?” “I know.” She just blinked at him. Swallowed. “What?” Her voice emerged high and silly. “Boo Hoo.” Her jaw tightened and she looked away. Back. “Wow.” He hadn’t moved his gaze from her. A beat, and something in his expression softened. “And I get it,” he said gently. She had to reach out and brace her hand on the top of her car. “What?” “I know how it feels to be judged, wrongly, by the media. By the world. To have words you didn’t mean—” “Oh, I meant them.” He cocked his head, narrowed his eyes. “I’ll bet you did. At the time. But . . . my guess is that there was a…

Excerpt from SUNDOWN published by arrangement with Revell. Copyright © 2022 by Susan May Warren   Maybe it was instinct, maybe he spotted something – a glimmer out on the water – maybe it was simply years of training but as she opened her mouth, every muscle tightened. “Get down!” He launched himself at her, pushing her down and covering her body with his just as the glass wall shattered over them. The glass pelleted them, but he was already scooping her up and pulling her behind the sofa with him. Bullets chewed up her furniture, as a semiautomatic peppered the boat. “Get behind the island!” He practically pushed her along the wood floor. Her island, too, was taking damage. And he, without a weapon. She had curled into a ball behind the island, but a stray bullet could find her spine, her head. He put an arm around her and pulled her hard against himself, shielding her. “Just stay down while I think!” “We need to get off the boat!” Yes. Given. “You got a car?” “Yes. In the garage across the street.” “Keys?” “In the car. The garage is locked.” “C’mon.” The shots had decimated the furniture, her…

Susan May Warren | Exclusive Interview: THE PRICE OF VALOR
Author Guest / October 9, 2020

Hi, Susan! Welcome back to Fresh Fiction. Please tell us about yourself and your latest book, THE PRICE OF VALOR.  My latest release, THE PRICE OF VALOR, is the final book in a trilogy about a man’s search for his wife…and ultimately, a quest to save his nation. The wife of Former Navy Seal, Hamilton Jones has been missing and presumed dead for over a decade. But when Ham discovers that she’s not only alive, but has vital information about the safety of America, he has to find her, get the information, bring her home, and maybe, just maybe, reignite their romance. It takes place in Italy, Minnesota, and finally, Washington D.C. Can you give us an overview of your Global Search and Rescue series? What do you love most about this action-packed world you’ve created?  The G-SAR series is bigger, bolder, and braver than my Montana Rescue series–sort of Rescue on steroids. First, my heroes tackle crazy scenarios–like rescuing a team of women off Denali. Or choosing to ride out a Cat 5 hurricane. Or running from a tsunami. But they also go global– from Alaska to the Florida Keys to Italy. And finally, they not only encounter challenges…
