Some women find trouble wherever they go. And some men are their only protection against it.

(read excerpt)

Redheads like Maggie O’Connell are nothing but trouble. But Trace Rawlins, a former army-ranger-turned-private-investigator, takes the case anyway. After all, he knows how to deal with women.

Trace can sense that something’s wrong—Maggie isn’t telling him everything. If these menacing calls and messages are real, why won’t the police help her? And if they aren’t real, what is she hiding?

As Trace digs deeper to find the source of Maggie’s threats, he discovers a secret that no one was meant to uncover. And the only puzzle left to be solved is whether the danger comes from an unknown stalker…or from the woman he’s trying his hardest not to fall for.

Tell us a little about AGAINST THE STORM what inspired you to write the book?

Trace Rawlins is an ex-Army Ranger, a friend of Dev Raines who appeared in Against the Law. Trace knows redheads are nothing but trouble but when fiery, red-haired photographer Maggie O’Connell comes to him for help finding a stalker, Trace ignores the sizzle between them and takes the case. But Maggie has dark secrets and the police don’t believe her stalker is real. As Trace begins to uncover her secrets he begins to think the cops might be right. It’s a sexy read with a lot of suspense. I really enjoyed writing these two characters.

I rarely know the inspiration for my stories. An idea just sort of pops into my head and then starts to grow. When Trace first appeared in Against the Law, I hadn’t planned to write his story, but he just got into my brain and I couldn’t get him out until I wrote his book.

What People Are Saying About AGAINST THE STORM?

Readers aren’t going to be able to put the lights out until the last page.

**** 1/2 HOT

Fans of Martin’s Rains of Wind Canyon trilogy are going to love meeting this testosterone-and-honor-laden family. Trace is an upright guy with a predilection for redheads in distress and Maggie is a redhead with a big problem. The chemistry between them sizzles, the romantic suspense is tautly compelling and the psychological terror ratchets up with each red herring. Readers aren’t going to be able to put the lights out until the last page. –RT BookReviews

A tense psychological thriller …

“[Against the Storm] is a tense psychological thriller … Fast-paced with two obstinate fully developed protagonists, readers will feel the growing tension but are unsure what is going on as reasonable twists fool the audience and the hero. Kat Martin is at her best with Against the Storm.” -Harriet Klausner

Truly a gifted author, I’ve never read a book by Kat Martin that wasn’t immediately headed for my keeper shelf.

Trace Rawlins has major trust issues. Issues that sound warning signals when he meets Maggie O’Connell. Maggie comes to Trace for help in identifying and protecting herself from a stalker. The more they are together, the hotter the fire between them burns. Can Trace overcome the past to find a future with Maggie, all the while trying to save Maggie’s life before it’s too late? -JoyfullyReviewed
