Bethany Turner | Conversations in Character with Sebastian Sudworth
Author Guest / September 6, 2023

Book Title: BRYNN AND SEBASTIAN HATE EACH OTHER Character Name: Sebastian Sudworth   How would you describe your family or your childhood? Huh. You don’t waste any time, do you? Just diving right on in. Okay, let’s see. Family…childhood…I mean, it was fine, I guess. Better than some, certainly. I grew up all over the place, owing to my dad being a diplomat, of sorts. I’m the youngest of three boys, and we were brought up to love baseball and America and to look for opportunities to fulfill our civic duties. I wouldn’t say my mother was exactly maternal, but she loved us a lot. That has never been in question. And we had nannies and housekeepers to fill in the gaps. Sorry if that all sounds painfully pretentious, but the fact is, it was.   What was your greatest talent? I can tell when someone’s lying. Almost always. It’s not like I have some mystical sixth sense or anything, I’m just a keen observer of human nature. I’m perceptive, I guess. It certainly came in handy in the journalism days.   Significant other? Currently? No one. I was married to my college sweetheart for eleven years, but my marriage…

Bethany Turner | Exclusive Interview: HADLEY BECKETT’S NEXT DISH
Author Guest / May 5, 2020

Hi Bethany – welcome to Fresh Fiction! Please tell us about yourself and your new book: Hadley Beckett’s Next Dish.  Hi! I’m excited to be here! A little bit about me. . . I’m the wife of a radio broadcaster who I met in an online chat room in the late 90s, the mom of two boys who really are the best teenagers on the planet–even if they can’t keep their rooms clean to save their lives–and I’m the most three of all threes on the Enneagram. As for Hadley Beckett’s Next Dish. . . it’s the story of two polar-opposite celebrity chefs, Hadley Beckett and Max Cavanagh, who are forced to work together months after an on-air altercation between the two of them that brought Max’s career crashing down and helped shoot Hadley to stardom. Hadley Beckett is a successful TV chef who goes out on a limb to participate in a cooking competition show. The culinary world is notoriously male-dominated, but Hadley can hold her own against the best of the best! What inspired the character of Hadley? What does her chosen profession as a chef add to her story arch? When I first began thinking about this story,…

Bethany Turner | TOP FIVE NOT-SO-OBVIOUS ROMANTIC ONSCREEN MOMENTS
Author Guest / October 6, 2017

THE SECRET LIFE OF SARAH HOLLENBECK is written from the POV of Sarah herself. Once in Sarah’s head, it doesn’t take long to realize that for every thought about the practical things of life, there seems to be at least one reference to movies and television – or at the very least, the practical things of life pass through the pop culture filter. Here now, to celebrate Sarah’s pop culture-obsessed brain (as well as my own!), my list of the top five not-so-obvious romantic onscreen moments. These are the little moments. These are the moments which make me swoon, but not in all the old familiar ways. Kisses in the rain and dramatic finales need not apply. These are moments of subtle romance and unexpected emotion which, in the end, are actually so much better than what even Sarah Hollenbeck could think she wants out of a love story. (And these moments are actually a lot closer to what she eventually finds!) EYE CONTACT THAT COULD MELT THE COLDEST HEART Pride and Prejudice. I mean, of course. Oh, the words that Jane Austen wrote! But for me, the most romantic moment in the 1995 BBC mini-series (starring Colin Firth… Hello!)…

Sarah is the author of some bestselling romance books that are so provocative and steamy her name becomes synonymous with the genre. But when Sarah becomes a Christ follower, she must try and maneuver away from her scandalous reputation—easier said than done since the books are still selling like wildfire, and she’s being hounded for the film rights.
