Kelly Farmer | Title Challenge: UNEXPECTED GOALS
Author Guest / November 2, 2021

The Out on the Ice series features Sapphic women’s hockey romances. These strong athletes find love on and off the ice. Their friendships, teammates and found families play an integral role in each woman’s journey to happily ever after. UNEXPECTED GOALS is the second book in the series. It hits the ice today (November 2, 2021). Woo-hoo! It’s an enemies-to-friends-to-lovers story between Canadian goalie Maisy Goode and American forward Jen Donato. International competition has created a bitter rivalry between them. Now teammates in the women’s pro league, they have to learn how to play nice in order to win. What they didn’t expect was falling for one another. U is for Uniforms. Maisy and Jen wear different ones on their national teams, but now don the same uniform for the Boston Ice. N is for Nature. They find common ground in their love of the outdoors. E is for Enemies…to friends…to “Oops! Feelings!” X is for EXpedition Unknown. It’s one of my favorite TV shows, and I based Maisy and Jen’s favorite show, Nature Escape, on it. P is for Professional women’s hockey players. Unexpected Goals is full of female athletes competing in the sport they love, where they make…

Shae Connor | Title Challenge: HARD DRIVE
Author Guest / October 19, 2021

Hi all! I’m Shae Connor, here to share my new novel HARD DRIVE for the Title Challenge. HARD DRIVE is an F/F college sports romance, set on the campus of the fictional University of Atlanta, featuring a relationship between a computer geek and a softball star. I’ve really enjoyed bringing these characters to life, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading about them. Here’s a little more about what to expect: H is for Happy ending! Guaranteed, naturally. 🙂 A is for Annie, the main character of the story, reserved, quiet, recently out as bisexual, and inexperienced in just about every way. R is for Romance, of course. Annie experiences her first romance after her crush, Eve, asks her on a… D is for … Date! Annie helps Eve with a broken-down laptop, so Eve asks her to… D is for … Dinner, which starts out as just a thank you but ends up leading to more. R is for Rain—or more specifically, thunderstorms. Annie has a phobia, but when they’re caught out in one, Eve finds a good way to distract her. 😉 I is for Introvert. Annie’s a major introvert who deals with anxiety, especially when it comes to…

Charlotte Anne Hamilton | Exclusive Excerpt: OF TRUST AND HEART
Author Guest / October 15, 2021

The last time, there had been only one at the door to take coats. Yet as she moved further into the bar, she saw why they had brought more in. The bar was the busiest Harriet had ever seen…well…anywhere. The dance floor was still there and the couples dancing managed to swing around without colliding with anyone, a skill Harriet was sure she didn’t possess. She was used to open spaces for her dancing. People were standing around chatting on the edge of the dance floor and at the bar, and others were crammed around tables far too small for their parties. “Is it usually like this on a Tuesday?” Harriet whispered as she followed Charlie through the crowds, her hand in his to avoid getting lost. “No, but it’s usually like this when they have a performance,” Charlie answered as he led her upstairs. It was only five or six steps, but it was enough to make it easier to see the stage. “So, they’re all here for Rosalie?” He grinned at her as they sat down. “Yes and no. They’re not here for Rosalie, specifically, but they are here to see her and the other girls she sings…

Jennet Alexander | Author-Reader Match: I KISSED A GIRL
Author Guest / August 3, 2021

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors as a reader you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Jennet Alexander! Writes: I write fluffy fade-to-black queer romances about early 20-somethings who are as messy as they are hopeful. My books explore that space between college and being grown-up, when it feels like everyone in the world but you has their act together. My heroines can be snarky, shy, awkward, or brash – but they’re always complex. I KISSED A GIRL is set in the chaotic world of movie-making, where Noa and Lilah are young Hollywood types trying to make their marks. Lilah’s a leading-lady-in-waiting with a long list of terrible b-movies on her IMDB; Noa’s a special-effects junkie still hoping for her big break. They’re shoved together in an industry where appearances are everything, and learning to open up to one another is a lot harder than it seems. About: Bisexual mom of two, a big-city girl rocking it out on the east coast. I split my time between backstage, teaching, and writing, and there’s nothing better than the…

Kelly Farmer | Author-Reader Match: OUT ON THE ICE
Author Guest / August 25, 2020

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors as a reader you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Kelly Farmer! Writes: Hi there! I write contemporary romance and light women’s fiction with snarky humor and heart. My debut novel, OUT ON THE ICE, is a female/female hockey romance. Caro runs a successful all-girls hockey training center and is embarrassed to be given a shout-out here. She’s very private. Amy, however, is thrilled to meet you. She’s an out and proud bisexual who plays professional women’s hockey. They develop the feels while coaching at Caro’s summer camp, then start a long-distance relationship. Caro’s need to be private clashes with Amy living life out loud. Through the power of love, they bring out the best in one another and work together to achieve their goals. Yay! About: I’m an Aquarius who enjoys long walks in the moonlight, candlelight dinners… I try not to take life too seriously, obviously. Writing has been a passion since childhood. It took 20 years to achieve publication, so I’m also rather stubborn and refuse to give…

Elia Winters | Exclusive Interview: HAIRPIN CURVES
Author Guest / July 31, 2020

Hi, Elia! Welcome to Fresh Fiction! Please introduce yourself and tell us about your new book, HAIRPIN CURVES. Thanks for having me! HAIRPIN CURVES is a frenemies-to-lovers road trip romance. Megan and Scarlett used to be best friends, but a falling-out after high school has kept them apart for the last seven years, and now they’re headed to Quebec on a road trip for a mutual friend’s wedding. Along the way, they of course discover a lot about each other and themselves.  There’s something so fun about a road trip romance! Have you ever gone on an epic road trip like Megan and Scarlett? Definitely. I grew up doing road trips, because my family had moved to Florida and left most of our extended family in Massachusetts. My parents didn’t fly, so we drove. We did more than the FL-to-MA trip, too: Jonesborough, Tennessee for the National Storytelling Festival; Parris Island, South Carolina for my brother’s Marine Corps graduation; St. Louis, Missouri to visit my sister, etc. As an adult, I’ve continued the road trip tradition, although I don’t have any aversion to flying (when it’s not a pandemic). My husband and I have driven to Quebec a number of…
