Jaci Burton | Author-Reader Match: THE BACKUP BRIDE PROPOSAL
Author Guest / April 23, 2024

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Jaci Burton!   Writes: Contemporary romance with all the feels, like THE BACKUP BRIDE PROPOSAL, which features Mae Wallace, a bridal consultant who’s very happy in her work but suddenly thrust into the world of Hollywood when a movie production shows up to film at the vineyard and wedding venue where she works. When the lead actress is delayed, Mae’s suddenly thrust into the role of stand-in, working alongside Kane August, the hotshot famous actor who’s oh-so-gorgeous and a very obvious problem for her because she’s definitely not interested in romance, and especially not with Mr. Famous Actor.   About: Living my best life in Oklahoma with my husband, our dogs, and happily living very close to some of the grandkids, who keep me wide eyed and alert at all times. I’m constantly stalking social media for the best tips and tricks and lighting to give me that youthful, dewy glow (Ha!), as well as carving out time in my day to catch an…

Jaci Burton | Down on Her Luck Divorcee Meets Guy Who Renovates Houses
Author Guest / December 12, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? HOUSEBROKE 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Down on her luck divorcee meets guy who renovates houses. They move in together in a mutually beneficial relationship that doesn’t involve sex. In the beginning anyway. And there are multiple rescue dogs! 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I wanted HEA, humidity and sunshine with occasional storms and lots of pretty houses near the ocean. Florida just seemed like a good idea. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Of course. By the time I finish a book I know everything there is to know about my characters. We could definitely hang out and have long talks. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Independent. Caring. Determined. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I learned a lot about rescue dogs, though I’ve always had rescue dogs of my own. But the process of fostering a rescue dog is quite different. And it’s hard to let them go! 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? I don’t edit the book until I’ve finished it, though…

Miranda Owen | Fresh Fiction Reviewer Top Reads of 2019
Author Guest / December 20, 2019

Our reviewer retrospective continues with Miranda Owen‘s favorite books of this year!  I love making lists. At the end of a year, friends and fellow readers will post about their top favorite five or ten books of the year. I’m not configured that way. Trying to pick only five or ten favorite books out of the hundred or so I’ve read over the course of a year is unfathomable to me. Instead, I’ve picked about five or so titles in four different categories. Many of these selections fit a few of different categories listed here. I mostly read and review romances, but cozy mysteries are my jam too. Christmas-themed Romance Picks THE MATCHMAKER’S MISTLETOE MISSION by Jaci Burton A COWBOY UNDER THE MISTLETOE by Jessica Clare ONE HOT HOLIDAY by Cynthia Eden MEET ME UNDER THE MISTLETOE by Stacey Kennedy ONE CHRISTMAS EVE by Shannon Stacey There was a ridiculous amount of amazing Christmas-themed romances that came out this year, many of which came out at the end of October. The ones I’m discussing were my absolute favorites, but there were a bunch more that put a smile on my face. THE MATCHMAKER’S MISTLETOE MISSION by Jaci Burton and A…

THE FINAL SCORE sizzles, see why we think so!
Giveaways , Review / September 13, 2017

Have you seen what our reviewers think about THE FINAL SCORE by Jaci Burton? If you’re a sports fan, check it out! Helen William says “THE FINAL SCORE is a wonderful story about living up to expectations. Nathan and Mia have always shared their thoughts with each other but when their relationship changes than the perceived outside pressure will get in the way. They will have to decide if they can have it all.” And Miranda Owen thinks “THE FINAL SCORE is a frankly fabulous romance with sizzle and substance. The enjoyable teasing between Nathan and Mia balance the sexual fireworks and intense character- driven story. This works as a great standalone story, but reading THE FINAL SCORE will make you want to go back and read about Nathan’s parents in THE PERFECT PLAY. I look forward to Jaci Burton’s next Play-by-Play novel.” THE FINAL SCORE by Jaci Burton Play-by-play #13 In the new Play-by-Play novel by the New York Times bestselling author of Rules of Contact, a star quarterback is torn between his love of the game—and the woman who may be the love of his life. Nathan Riley is ready to follow in the footsteps of his famous…

Jaci Burton | Joys of a Small Town
Author Guest / December 7, 2010

I have a thing for small town romance, which I’ve always found kind of interesting since I didn’t grow up in a small town. I grew up in St. Louis. Big city. Professional baseball and football teams, lots to do, major commerce, heavy traffic—all the big city things you would expect of a—well, a big city. But here and there I’ve lived in small towns. And oh, I love them. I raised my sons in what was then (but isn’t now) a small town. The kind of small town where if you lived there long enough, you’d run into people at the grocery store who knew who you were, or knew you were the parent of one of their friends. People on the street where I lived used to have block parties. No one stayed in their houses keeping to themselves. Everyone knew everyone else. If you went out at night, you knew your neighbors were watching your house (or your teenagers, much to their dismay). I live in a small town now, on an acre and a half of land, but still live on a street where I know my neighbors, where people watch out for you, where high…

Jaci Burton | Genre Jumping
Romance / September 13, 2007

One of the questions I get asked most is whether it’s difficult to write in different genres. The answer is absolutely not. I love genre jumping. In fact, I think it would make me insane if I were to write in only one genre. Perhaps that’s because I’ve been writing in multiple genres since I started writing. It’s impossible for me to stick to one…flavor. I love so many. When I first started writing for Ellora’s Cave, I started in contemporary, then branched out into paranormal. Then I got this great idea about faeries so I started a fantasy series. Then came futuristics and…well, you get the idea. I can’t seem to stay with one genre, and I’m fine with that.Several years and multiple publishers later, I’ve pretty much settled on mainstream paranormal romance and contemporary erotic romance…mostly. And that was because I was given the wonderful opportunity to write for Bantam Dell and Berkley, and each contracted me for something completely different, which was like a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to write paranormal romance, and my writing roots were in erotic romance. Now I can do both. And I also write for Samhain Publishing where I can…
