Jennie Marts | A Divorced Hairdresser Meets a Swoony Deputy Sheriff
Author Guest / March 28, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? EVERY BIT A COWBOY, Creedence Horse Rescue Book 5   2–What is it about? A divorced hairdresser whose ex-husband stole her confidence and a swoony deputy sheriff who helps her find it again. It’s also about community, and eight baby pygmy goats, and a dog who rescues a horse, and a fashionista pig, and there may be a male stripper in there somewhere too.   3–What do you love about the setting of your book?  The town of Creedence is a small-town set in the mountains of Colorado. I live in Colorado and think the small mountain towns are so beautiful. I also love the sense of community in small towns and the way everyone knows everyone else and takes care of each other.   4–How did your heroine surprise you?  Carley Chapman is a really lovely person who uses her skills as a hairstylist to make others feel beautiful about themselves. Her ex-husband did a number on her and took her confidence in herself away. She really surprised me in this story in some of the ways she stands up for herself and finds that confidence in herself again.   5–Why…

Jennie Marts | Author-Reader Match: NEVER ENOUGH COWBOY
Author Guest / July 26, 2022

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Jennie Marts!   Writes: Hi! I’m Jennie Marts, an award-winning author who writes small town stories with humor and heart. In my books, you’ll usually find at least one adorable dog, a sassy old lady who loves to dispense worldly and often hilarious advice, a swoon-worthy hero, and a heroine who can hold her own against anything the world throws at her. And often, an ornery goat shows up to cause trouble as well. Like in my newest book, NEVER ENOUGH COWBOY, where Otis, the resident ornery goat of the Heaven Can Wait Horse Rescue ranch, traps the feisty librarian, Jillian Bennett, in the loft of the barn after having wrestled her maple syrup-scented wrap skirt from her body. As luck would have it, Deputy Ethan Rayburn, the guy she’s been crushing on, is the one to come to her rescue, except she wasn’t prepared for him to catch her wearing only superhero undies and a sheepish grin. As a single mom, Jillian barely…

Jennie Marts | 20 Questions: COWBOY EVER AFTER
Author Guest / July 1, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? COWBOY EVER AFTER 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? A romance writer travels to Montana to research life on a ranch and meets the real-life cowboy replica of the hero in her book. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I love Montana. My husband and I moved to the small town of Ft. Benton right out of college when he took a job there as the lead river ranger, and we just fell in love with the town and the community. We only lived there about four years before coming back to Colorado, but Montana will always live in our hearts, and I love writing stories set in small towns like Ft. Benton that capture the spirit and community of that life. The town of Bartlett in Cowboy Ever After is inspired by Ft. Benton and is a combination of it and Washington, KS, the small town I grew up in. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Absolutely. Kaylee is timid, but she’s also a lot of fun and has a great sense of humor. We’re both writers, so I’m…

Jennie Marts | Exclusive Excerpt: HOW TO COWBOY
Author Guest / December 21, 2021

Cade Callahan stood in the hospital gift shop staring at the colorful display of get-well tokens. A fluffy white unicorn with a purple horn and a glittery pink-and-purple mane caught his eye. Allie had loved unicorns as a little kid—she’d called them “Princess Ponies.” But he was wrestling with the notion that now she might be too old for a stuffed animal. If she was, she could always toss it. At least he was trying, he thought as he snagged the unicorn from the shelf. He considered a card but figured that might be a little too much. Besides, he doubted he’d find a card that read, ‘Sorry I was a shitty dad. Get well soon’. For now, the unicorn would have to do. He grabbed two bottles of water and threw a couple of Reese’s peanut butter cups onto the counter, thinking they might want them on the drive up the mountain. He was already dreading the trip. His back hurt from sleeping in the chair next to her hospital bed, and between the two of them, they were grumpier than a grizzly who’d stepped in a hornet’s nest. I’m the grown-up, he reminded himself. Which meant he needed…

Jennie Marts | 20 Questions: WHEN A COWBOY LOVES A WOMAN
Author Guest / March 29, 2021

1–What is the title of your latest release? WHEN A COWBOY LOVES A WOMAN, book 2 in the Creedence Horse Rescue series 2–What is it about? It’s a second chance love story for two people who both lost their spouses. It has an adorable ten-year-old girl, a feisty eighty-year-old, and a rescued horse who loves to be sung to. A kitchen fire forces Elle Brooks to move in with her friend, Bryn, and her motley collection of rescue animals. Spending time with the hunky veterinarian, Brody Tate, and his spunky young daughter as they rehabilitate rescued horses reminds her of all she lost in a car crash years ago. The hope of a future brings these two wounded souls together. 3–What do you love about the setting of your book?  I love getting to go back to the town of Creedence and spend time on the Heaven Can Wait Horse Rescue Ranch. There is such a fun crew of animals there, from an ornery goat to a fashion-conscious pig to a mini-horse who loves jelly beans. And this new book will introduce you to some adorable new animals that readers won’t be able to help but fall in love with….

Jennie Marts | Top 5 Cowboy Romances You Need To Read
Author Guest / May 3, 2019

I’m a Kansas farm girl at heart, and I love a great cowboy romance. Throw in a quirky small town and a dog, and I’m sold. That’s why I write small town stories filled with humor and heart. And I love when a western romance does something unexpected, like when Colorado cowboy heroes also play hockey. Oh wait, I know that series. And if you love the idea of cowboys who are as hot on horseback as they are on the ice, then you need to check out the Cowboys of Creedence. The third book in the series, It Started With a Cowboy, is just releasing now, and in this one, Colt, the youngest James brother, talks shy schoolteacher, Chloe Bishop, into helping him coach a youth hockey team of rowdy eight years olds. Being so close to the cowboy she’s crushing on is dangerous territory for Chloe. But when a real enemy threatens her, Colt will do anything to protect her. Even if it means risking himself—and his heart. Once you’ve devoured the James brothers and made Colt James your newest book boyfriend, here are five other great cowboy books to sink your spurs into. It was so hard to pick just five,…

Jennie Marts | My Favorite Scene from You Had Me at Cowboy
Author Guest / December 4, 2018

I had such a blast writing this book! I adore Mason and Tess and loved giving them amusing, settings, and witty banter, and writing scenes that were sexy and fun. There are so many great scenes in this book from the piggyback ride in the rain, to the serial-killer clown scare, to a sugar cube-encrusted kiss. It was hard to pick a favorite, but I really liked the scene with Mason taking another run at their first kiss. It shows them having fun together and you can see my klutzy, curvy heroine, Tess coming out of her shell a little and getting her flirt on. How many times have we wished we’d done something differently or that we could go back and get a do-over for an important moment? That’s the scene I gave these two as Mason tells Tess he wants another crack at their first kiss and it’s just adorable. Comin’ in hot… Mason James is the responsible brother, the one who stayed behind to run the ranch when his older brother left to play professional hockey. He’s always felt in his brother’s shadow and women have used him in the past to get to his famous brother….
