Michelle Major | Conversations in Character with Annalise Haverford
Author Guest / June 2, 2023

Book Title: THE FRONT PORCH CLUB Character Name: Annalise Haverford   How would you describe your family or your childhood? Everything about my childhood was perfect, or at least meant to look that way. We might not have had some of the material wealth that our friends and neighbors did, but my mother was an expert at appearances, mine in particular. I was raised to be a perfect Southern belle although mama’s dreams of me making a successful run on the pageant circuit fell apart thanks to my debilitating stage fright. Turns out I could not perform on cue as expected. It wasn’t until I had children of my own that I realized making parents happy wasn’t the responsibility of a child. It was quite an eye-opener I’ll tell you.   What was your greatest talent? I’m not sure I should admit this but bending people to my will has always been a talent for me. And I’m definitely ashamed to admit that I didn’t think much about anyone else’s feelings in the process. I’m working on that. As it turns out, being genuinely nice to people makes me feel good. And although I didn’t expect it, making friends like…

Michelle Major | 20 Questions: WEDDING SEASON
Author Guest / April 22, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? WEDDING SEASON   2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Mariella Jacob and Alex Ralsten are sworn enemies but when they end up working together in the quaint town of Magnolia, North Carolina, something shocking happens—they form a connection that startles them both…daring them to admit that a rocky past might lead to something unexpectedly wonderful.   3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? It was an easy decision because this is the third book in The Carolina Girls series. I loved returning to Magnolia, North Carolina.   4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Absolutely. Mariella Jacob is fun, feisty and a little bit snarky. I appreciate a bit of snark in my friends. She’s also really loyal, which is important to me. Plus, she owns a clothing store – I’m a terrible shopper so I could use some inspiration!   5–What are three words that describe your hero? Strong, steady, honorable   6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I guess this shouldn’t have come as a surprise, but although Mariella is tough on the outside, she has a tender…

Michelle Major | Exclusive Interview: WILDFLOWER SEASON
Author Guest / May 25, 2021

Danielle: Welcome to Fresh Fiction, Michelle! We are excited to chat with you today. Please tell us a bit about your new series, Carolina Girls.   Michelle: Thank you so much for having me visit today—I’m excited to be here! The Carolina Girls series is a fun spinoff from the original Magnolia Sisters series set in the fictional town of Magnolia, North Carolina. The series features an unlikely friendship between three women all working to start over and create a new life for themselves. The stories are romances at their heart but also explore the importance of friendship, community and finding the right place to call home.  We love a smalltown setting! What do you love most about Magnolia, North Carolina? If you were to spend a day there, where would you visit?       Well, since I currently live in Colorado, which is a beautiful—but very landlocked state—I’d definitely make a trip to the beach outside of Magnolia. The town is based on a few coastal towns we visited when I was a kid vacationing every year in the Outer Banks area of North Carolina and also further south to Hilton Head, South Carolina. I hope I’ve been able to infuse Magnolia with…

Michelle Major | Exclusive Excerpt: THE LAST CAROLINA SISTER
Author Guest / March 26, 2021

WHEN THE POUNDING STARTED, Ryan Sorensen glanced from the television to the front door and then back again, settling deeper into the faded recliner. Rain beat against the roof of the cottage situated a few blocks from the beach near the town of Magnolia, North Carolina. The Carolina Hurricanes were up by one goal against Detroit with five minutes left in the second period. He was warm, dry and as comfortable as his injured leg would allow. Nothing good would come of answering an insistent knock on a stormy night. His jaw tightened as he imagined what his father would think of him ignoring a person potentially in need of help. Ryan had been taught from a young age that he owed the world something, no matter what the world handed him in return. The lesson had led, in a roundabout sort of way, to a bullet in his leg a month earlier and a colleague and friend dying in his arms. It had been one hell of a difficult pill to swallow. He figured whoever was outside his door would give up eventually. Minutes later the door rattled on its hinges as the pounding increased in intensity. “Hello?” a…

Michelle Major | Exclusive Excerpt: HER TEXAS NEW YEAR’S WISH
Author Guest / December 22, 2020

“This doesn’t make any sense.” Callum dashed a hand through his hair as he paced the small waiting room in the Rambling Rose Medical Center emergency room. “In all my years of construction, I’ve never had something like that happen on one of our projects.” “We’ll figure out what caused it,” Wiley said from where he sat on a patterned chair situated against the far wall. “But first we need to make sure Grace is okay. She’s the priority right now.” Callum nodded. “You’re right. But what if it had been a hotel guest or one of the kids on that balcony when it collapsed? Can you imagine if there were people on the patio below?” Wiley understood his brother’s train of thought but felt oddly defensive at the subtle suggestion that the accident wasn’t as catastrophic because a mere employee had been injured. As if sensing his irritation, Callum held up a hand. He wore dark slacks and a button-down shirt that was covered with dust from the rubble of the mess that had been made when the balcony collapsed. “I’m not insinuating that Grace is disposable. I would never put her or any employee at risk. You know…
