Kat Turner | Author-Reader Match: EMBERS
Author Guest / January 5, 2023

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Kat Turner!   Writes: I write steamy romance with heart and humor. My Coven Daughters paranormal romance series brings together magic, witchy shenanigans, and plenty of heat. EMBERS is a prequel novella to the series that features a fire witch/paranormal investigator and notorious rock star with a heart of gold. They team up to beat a terrible prophecy and fall hard along the way.   About: I’m originally from Iowa and currently live in Louisville, Kentucky. Though I am sadly not a bourbon drinker, I do enjoy Derby Pie. Summer is my favorite season, as I’m a total sun worshipper who is obsessed with the ocean. When I’m not writing, I spend my time working out, practicing yoga, and reading. Lately, I’ve been devouring musician autobiographies. I live with my husband, son, and a cat who thinks he’s a dog and/or person.   What I’m looking for in my ideal reader match A sense of humor that skews a little dry and dark. Likes…

Jayci Lee | A One Night Stand Leads to Love
Author Guest / January 5, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? ONE NIGHT ONLY 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? A smoking hot one night stand leads to a surprise pregnancy. But when the heroine finds out that the hero is her father’s new CFO, they agree to a secret, strictly platonic co-parenting alliance until they find a way to stop her father from firing him on the spot. The strictly platonic part doesn’t go so well. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? Well, One Night Only is the second book in the Hana Trio series which takes place in Los Angeles, so that part was easy. And I’ll take all the easy I can get because writing a book is so freaking hard. Haha. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Absolutely. Megan might be one of my favorite heroines. She is so bold and funny. I definitely have a girl crush on her. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Swoony, sweet, but wounded 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I wrote this book while my father was in the hospital and edited it soon after he…

Ella Quinn | Marital Expectations in Regency Romance
Author Guest / January 4, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? THE MARRIAGE LIST 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? I’m not good at this. Marquis meets young lady who has no interest in his rank. Now he must find a way to get her attention. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I have three sisters coming out at the same time. My only option was London. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? She’d be like my granddaughter, but yes. She’s interesting. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Committed, kind, handsome. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I learned a lot about mining during the Regency to include the fact that the government owned most of the mines and that they were responsible for much of the violence. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? I really try not to, but it happens. I will say that when you force yourself to write a chapter a day, you do have to let a lot of the editing wait. 8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence? Dark chocolate. Although, that’s really not much of…

Fenna Edgewood | 20 Questions: A Housekeeper, A Duke, and A Mix of Romance and Mystery
Author Guest / January 4, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? KISS ME, MY DUKE 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? My latest release is called “Kiss Me, My Duke” and is about a young housekeeper with a mysterious past who decidedly has no plans to kiss her arrogant employer-duke, but somehow winds up traveling with said handsome duke to London to search for a missing family member…and eventually doing a little kissing. Or, if that doesn’t grab you, here’s the tagline: Before she was his servant, she had another name…and all of London swooning at her feet.   3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I write Regency historical romances and most of the books in that genre are set in London–often during the Season, like in Bridgerton. Because I am willful and stubborn, I try to avoid London and have only set a couple of books there. But this book demanded a London setting, so my hero and heroine travel from a country townhouse straight to the Big City and visit some delightfully dangerous locales as part of their adventures. (They may even face down a lioness, but I’m not telling.)   4–Would you…

1–What is the title of your latest release? DRAKE, A Pittsburgh Titans Novel 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Drake McGinn is an embattled hockey goalie and single dad to three boys. Having walked away from the game after allegations by his ex-wife caused the league to turn their backs on him, Drake never had any intention of returning to the ice. But Brienne Norcross, team owner of the Pittsburgh Titans, made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Now Drake and Brienne are playing a game of their own—one that involves secret hookups and midnight rendezvous. This dirty talking dad and ball-busting billionaire are about to take Pittsburgh by storm. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? Drake is the fifth book in my Pittsburgh Titans hockey series so all the books are set there. But I chose Pittsburgh because I love that city so much. It has a rich history in sports and a lot of my family is from Western Pennsylvania, so I liked the nostalgia of it. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? I love my heroine, Brienne Norcross, but alas… she’s so damn busy with…

Like a Jonathan Tropper family moving into a Carl Hiaasen neighborhood. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I knew I wanted the protagonists to be traveling through a landscape where they felt like they had landed on another planet, total fish-out-of-water. Abso-friggin-lutely! 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Funny, Sarcastic, Wounded 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? That I love writing books! Dr. Jenna Podjasek | Medical Training:  Influence and Inspiration
Author Guest / January 2, 2023

I couldn’t have written Particles in the Air without my medical expertise.  Every step of the way, I wanted to be sure that my story had a realistic medical setting with scientifically plausible scenarios.  My training gave me the ability to remain true-to-life, from the illness descriptions to lab abnormalities, to the disastrous effects of what a manufactured, contagious virus can do to the human immune system. Written words have always been a central part of my world.  I grew up nurturing my creative side with art, creating writing, and reading.  To this day, I read and listen to audiobooks constantly.  At times, I ask myself, how did I become an MD?  When I was young, I didn’t have a significant interest in science.  However, after someone close to me became ill, I began to explore medicine as a career.  A biochemistry class during college opened my eyes to the complexities of the human body. I’m a big proponent of planning and research in both writing and everyday life.  “Write what you know” is something I relied upon heavily throughout my process.  Years of education have honed my organizational skills, which helped my writing progress smoothly.  Before I began, I spent weeks…

She never planned on falling in love with the son of one. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? This is book 3 in the series, so my character’s location was pre-determined by the very first book. But I also knew what her job was going to be, so had to have her in a specific location for that. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Absolutely. Lainie’s a cool person. I actually like and admire her a lot. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Determined, Loyal, Compassionate 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I learned that it’s quite a process to become a Behavioral Analyst with the FBI. It was quite an eye-opening research journey. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? I edit as I go. 8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence? A Krispy Kreme chocolate covered cream filled donut. I allow myself one about once every six months. 9–Describe your writing space/office!
