Miranda Liasson | Two Former Best Friends-Turned-Enemies Reunite and Sparks Fly
Author Guest / October 24, 2023

What is the title of your latest release? THE SWEETHEART CRUSH   What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? He made her the villain of his novel…and she’s about to read all about it. Two former best friends-turned-enemies reunite and sparks fly!   How did you decide where your book was going to take place? A few years ago, while driving through Indiana, I saw a sign for a “Blossom Glen” housing community and laughed, thinking that was an awesome name for a romantic small town! I had never done a family of sisters and that was really fun too.   Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? I love Viv because she is real – she has had failures and is working to turn them around into successes, and is finding herself along the way.   What are three words that describe your hero? Brooding but sweet and funny.   What’s something you learned while writing this book? Where the state/county/local fair treat of elephant ears came from.   Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? Edit, edit, edit everywhere all the time.   What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?…

Miranda Liasson | A Word About Second-Chance Romance
Author Guest / July 12, 2023

You know the trope: our heroine returns to her hometown and runs into the very person she wanted to avoid the most. It might be a guy she missed her chance with the first time; it might be one she now despises for one reason or another. It might even be her ex, her first love, or her ex-husband. Whoever he is, he’s not a stranger, and seeing him again hits her harder than   a body slam. There are feelings, maybe mostly bad. But uh oh—he’s just as hot as ever! There are feelings to be sorted through, truths to be revealed. Mr. Blast-From-the-Past might be annoying, but layers gradually get peeled away—he’s not awful! And he might annoy our heroine, but oh my gosh, he gets her in ways that no one else can. So in some ways, he’s the worst thing that’s ever happened to her, but also, well…the best. Some people say that second-chance romance is for older people, those who tend to look back on their lives and reminisce about past choices and decisions: the one-who-got-away, the forbidden love, or the one-who-never was. I have always been a fan of second chance romance, even when I…

Miranda Liasson | Exclusive Excerpt: THE SWEETHEART DEAL
Author Guest / January 21, 2022

“Come out here,” he said insistently but not unkindly. “I have water.” “I’m fine. Really.” She was not going out there with puffy eyes and streaking mascara looking like Frankenstein’s bride. No. Way. “Tessa?” he said. She heard him pace back and forth in front of the stall. She wanted to answer him, except for some reason she started to cry. Silently, of course. But she couldn’t seem to stop. Then Leo said, “I’m coming in.” She heard the thud of his hands hitting the stall door. At the same time, the bathroom door squeaked open again. “Excuse me, young man,” a woman’s voice said, “but what do you think you’re doing?” Oh no. Who…? “Oh, hi,” Leo said. “I’m just talking to my…fiancee.” “Well, I’m in charge of this restroom, and you need to leave right now.” It was a woman with a gravelly voice, like maybe from smoking cigarettes. “Are you okay in there, honey? If you aren’t, just say the word. The police headquarters is right down the hall.” “No, ma’am, you don’t understand,” Leo said. “It’s just–hey!” A scuffling ensued. Was that the sound of Leo being dragged away? The woman’s voice was more distant now,…

Note from author: I’m so excited to bring you my new enemies-to-lovers, second-chance romance Then There Was You, the first book in my new Angel Falls series. I hope you enjoy Sara and Colton as much as I enjoyed writing them! –Miranda “Liasson (The Baby Project) ably tugs at the heartstrings with this poignant contemporary about a jilted doctor and the police chief who’d like to make it all better.”  –Publishers Weekly Short excerpt:   “I didn’t get you a pie. I made you a pie.”  Her eyes were dancing in the low light, and he could see the golden highlights in her hair. Forget the damn pie. He wanted to taste her. Whoa there, Colton. Friends, friends, friends, he repeated to himself. What had happened to all that animosity between them? The desire to tease her, to make her blush? To keep her at a distance, which was what all that bickering had done. Now he found he did want to make her blush. But for a completely different reason. “Did you celebrate today?” she asked. “Carmen made cupcakes. I’ll have dinner with Cookie and Hannah this weekend.” She patted the swing beside her and he took her up…
