Susan Stoker | Becoming a Mountain Mercenary
Author Guest / December 4, 2018

In my romance series, the Mountain Mercenaries are a group of six former special forces men who were brought together by they mysterious, “Rex.” They were chosen because of their expertise and their disenchantment with always having to do things “by the book.” There is an underlying reason why Rex formed the group, but that story line is still evolving.:) Their mission is to fight for abused women and children who can’t fight for themselves. They work somewhat “under the radar” to rescue women who have been kidnapped and to keep them safe from abusers. Allye, in the first book, Defending Allye, mistakenly believes that they are a group of men gone “rogue” as that is typically what a mercenary is. But in the Mountain Mercenaries case they are more like vigilantes. They do what they can to right a wrong done to a woman or child. They work within the law as much as possible, and Rex has connections with law enforcement all over the country, and even outside it. But when push comes to shove, if they have to sneak in and out of a foreign country to rescue someone, they will. It’s all about bringing loved ones home to…

Author Guest / October 29, 2018

Exclusive Interview with Ryan Quinn, the Hero of The Memory of You 1) Greetings Ryan! Thanks for joining us today. We know you have a lot going on–you’re a single father and public defender and you just had a big move back to your hometown. Can you tell us a bit about your day-to-day life? Thanks for having me. At the moment, my day-to-day life is a bit chaotic now that I’ve temporarily moved in with my folks while my divorce is finalized. I’ve started a new job and am trying to get my young daughter to embrace a new school and make new friends. Meanwhile, my meddling mother went and hired my high school sweetheart, Steffi, to remodel her house, so now I have to see Steffi every day, too. Emmy, my daughter, is taking to her, which is a risk because Steffi can’t be trusted to keep her commitments anymore than Emmy’s mom can. But I do love being home on Long Island Sound, and I look forward to getting back out on my old sailboat. 2) Emmy sounds great, but it seems like your divorce has been really hard on her. What has been her reaction to all…

Jennifer Probst | Exclusive Interview with the Hero of A Brand New Ending
Author Guest / October 22, 2018

Meet Kyle Kimpton, the Hero from Jennifer Probst’s A Brand New Ending   1) Greetings Kyle! Thanks for being with us at Fresh Fiction today. I know that a lot of readers are interested in your story. Can you tell us a bit about yourself? Absolutely. I’m a successful Hollywood screenwriter with some big movies to my credit, but lately, my life hasn’t been what I’ve imagined. Sure, I’m successful, but I sacrificed the only woman I ever loved for my career, and I plan on getting her back. I’m going to win back her love, and write the greatest script of all time. I can still have it all, right? 2) Maybe… We see know why you returned to your hometown after a decade. What’s the first thing that you did when you arrived? Went straight to the Bishop B&B to see Ophelia. God, she took my breath away. I’m still madly in love with her. I explained I needed to stay at the Inn in order to write this new script, but she didn’t take my request too well. 3) A little birdy told us that Ophelia isn’t exactly happy to see you. Care to comment on that?…

A few hours later, I began to realize that Eli had some standard skills. He’d surveyed the landscape, using the basic signs to find a small stream where we’d filled up water bottles. We still had to boil the water, but Eli had managed to use his knowledge to find it. Grudgingly, I had to admit that he really was interested in primitive survival. I’d taught him some advanced skills, like how to make an underground still if he couldn’t find an obvious source of water, and a few more ways to get drinking water in other climates. He listened, which made my irritation with him fade away a little. I’d expected him to scoff at everything I said or the things I tried to teach him. Instead, it had been exactly the opposite. Eli Stone seemed to suck up knowledge like a sponge, and he asked a lot of intelligent questions. “What are these?” he asked as he stopped on the hiking path we’d been following back to camp. I came to a halt next to him, reaching for his hand as he went to touch the small fruit bush. “Be careful,” I warned as I gripped his fingers…

Author Reader Match | Mary Ellen Taylor
Author Guest / October 15, 2018

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors as a reader you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Mary Ellen Taylor. Writes: Mary Ellen Taylor novels, including my latest, WINTER COTTAGE, are contemporary “women’s fiction” stories entwined with history that informs their present day plots and, to varying extent, the mysteries at their center. Regardless of the direction the story takes, at heart the books all explore life, love, friends and family and delve into the need we all have to belong and to find our way. About: A native of Virginia, my love for my home state is evident in my contemporary women’s fiction novels. My first four, beginning with THE UNION STREET BAKERY, are set in Alexandria and the town is, in some way, a silent character in each. In my latest, WINTER COTTAGE, Virginia’s Eastern Shore topography and weather are essential to the scenes and actions of that story. I still live in Virginia where I’ve raised my family, built my career and now enjoy an empty nest along with my husband and three miniature dachshunds….

In my latest release, CUT AND RUN, medical examiner Dr. Faith McIntyre is called to the hospital when unconscious and critically injured FBI Agent Macy Crow is brought to the emergency room after a vicious hit and run. The Quantico-based agent is Faith’s mirror image and her existence brings into question Faith’s adoption, which was always shrouded in secrets. Could Macy be the twin sister Faith never knew she had? And what was Macy doing in a dark Austin alley? More importantly, who and what are behind the clues Macy has left that lead Faith and Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden to the graves of three women who disappeared thirty years before? Is it possible Macy found a connection between those graves and a pregnant girl who has been missing for months? CUT AND RUN is chocked full of emotion, beginning with the opening scene featuring Paige, a pregnant teen who has been locked in a windowless room for months and is days away from going into labor. She’s as terrified of giving birth alone as she is frightened of her brutal jailor. I’m hoping readers feel Paige’s desperation as strongly as I did when I wrote this scene. The relationship between Faith…

Lance leaned on a snack machine, assessing the pallor in Morgan’s face and the slight trembling of her fingers, which she was working hard to hide. “You should be resting.” “I know.” She sniffed, and her voice dropped to a whisper. “There’s nothing I’d like more than to go home and focus all my attention on an entire pint of Ben & Jerry’s. But if I let go now, I’m not sure I could pull myself together again.” Her gaze broke away and traveled the hallway to where a deputy stood guard outside the room where Haley was being examined. The deputy had balked at being told to wait outside. The previous sheriff had been very old-school. There were no female deputies. The situation was unusual. Normally, the person being examined was the victim, not the accused. But seriously, where was Haley going to go? She was sick, and…
