Elizabeth Goddard | A Bush Pilot Assists a Detective on His Quest to Find His Sister
Author Guest / October 16, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? SHADOWS AT DUSK, Missing in Alaska book 2   2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Bush Pilot Carrie James assists Detective Trevor West on his quest to find his sister missing in Alaska. With a killer on the loose, the danger rises and the stakes have never been higher when someone tries to end them for good.   3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I love setting my stories in stunning locations which gives me the opportunity to add in adventure. The focus of the Missing in Alaska series is Southeast Alaska and a fictional town called Shadow Gap. Given that my protagonist is a bush pilot, I knew I needed the story to take the reader on a wild ride through the Panhandle region of Alaska.   4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? While I love Carrie James, I’m not sure I want to be in a plane with her, since I personally don’t enjoy flying. Ha! Then again it could totally be worth it to get a view of the amazing Alaska sunrise and the landscape in general….

Elizabeth Goddard | A Wounded Officer and Unexplained Murders
Author Guest / February 6, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? COLD LIGHT OF DAY 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? When an unexpected string of criminal activity leaves her with a wounded officer and unexplained murders, Police Chief Autumn Long must rely on an outsider for help as she fights to save her job and the small town of Shadow Gap, Alaska. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I had been considering revisiting Southeast Alaska as a novel setting since my six-book Mountain Cove series set in the region. Then during research for Deadly Target (Rocky Mountain Courage 2), I came across a podcast about people missing in Alaska, and I got chills. Ha! I knew it was time. I emailed my editor to ask if she’d be interested in a series set in Alaska, and she was excited about the prospect. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Chief Autumn Long is a tough character with a dangerous job, but she’s also all about her family, and I think it would be fun to hang out at The Lively Moose—the restaurant owned by her grandparents, Ike and Pearl (Birdy) Lively,…

Elizabeth Goddard | 20 Questions: CRITICAL ALLIANCE
Author Guest / July 5, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? CRITICAL ALLIANCE 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? A cybersecurity expert with a criminal past, teams up with a Diplomatic Security Services special agent to secure exposed assets, close security beaches and save lives. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? The easy answer—this was book 3 in a series set in Montana! But in general, I usually start with a nature setting that inspires me. I thought it would be fun to set a tech company in the middle of wild, beautiful Montana. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Oh, I don’t know—she might be too smart for me! Ha! 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Dauntless, adventurous, gorgeous. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? More than I wanted to know about the dark side of a hacker’s mind. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? Answer: I usually write a messy rough draft, and then spend the bulk of my allotted time rewriting and editing. 8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence? Answer: Cinnamon rolls! (I know, it’s weird. People usually…

Erin’s podcast focuses on cold cases, so they join forces to learn the truth. But someone is trying to stop them. 3–What do you love about the setting of your book?  I love the spectacular and stunning setting of the Rocky Mountains in Montana. Thick green forests and beautiful pristine rivers. 4–How did your main character(s) surprise you?  Erin’s secret past was unexpected, and I loved the twists and turns that arose as I wrote the story. 5–Why will readers relate to your characters?  My hope is always that my characters will be relatable. Erin’s character is complex and she’s relatable on many different levels. She has career dreams and goals but gives those up to help her mother. We can all relate to the fact that life is filled with hard choices, and we must choose our hard. She also wants to make sense of her past, but has no one she can truly…

Elizabeth Goddard | Reunion Romance: The Imminent Danger of Falling in Love
Author Guest / July 3, 2020

Or  . . . falling in love while in imminent danger. See what I did there? I’ve been reading romantic suspense since I was in my early teens. Romance, really, but I found myself drawn to stories with suspense and mystery elements. Romance and suspense can show up in not only contemporary stories, but mystery, historical, fantasy and science fiction novels too. I love when danger and tension drives the two main characters together. The protective hero. The strong, determined heroine. Both of them together facing off with a worthy villain. Now decades later I have the most amazing job in the world because I get to write romantic suspense for a living. Admittedly, writing in this genre comes with challenges. For one, there’s the ticking time bomb issue. How does one fall in love when in imminent danger? Have you ever read a romance and felt uncomfortable with the pace? You felt that the romance moved much too quickly. Or you were stunned that the couple could possibly profess their love so soon or even get engaged or married after knowing each other for a short time? In real life, how much time is needed for couples to fall…
