Lisa Kessler | PIRATE’S PLEASURE Excerpt and more!
Author Guest / May 6, 2019

It’s so fun to be back on the Fresh Fiction Blog! If we haven’t met before, I’m Lisa Kessler and I write paranormal romances that have plenty of twists and turns, danger and adventure, and sexy romance that will curl your toes. I love writing paranormals, but I don’t stop with vampires and shifters. In the Sentinels of Savannah series, I’ve got a sexy crew of immortal pirates, but they’re not vampires. Their final plunder as mortals turned out not to be gold, but the Holy Grail. They’ve been immortal ever since, living and working at their favorite port city, Savannah Georgia! My new release, Pirate’s Pleasure, is book 3 in my new Sentinels of Savannah Series but it can be read as a standalone. Why pirates in Savannah? My grandmother was born and raised just outside of Savannah in Darien, so I’d visited America’s Most Haunted City before and pirates are a big part of their history. I’ve wanted to write a pirate series since the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie came out, but I didn’t want to write a historical soooo… One day it hit me! What if the pirates were still here, today? Immortal. They all have…

What is it about a Shifter?
Author Guest / June 19, 2017

Hi everyone – I’m excited to be visiting Fresh Fiction again to chat about my upcoming release, NEW MOON. This is the 8th and final book in the Moon Series, but it’s easy to jump in if you haven’t read the others first. (Although I secretly hope after you read it you’ll want to start from the beginning! LOL) I fell in LOVE with writing Shifters over the past few years. These loyal, protective, and occasionally hot-headed men always win my heart, but Sebastian isn’t part of the Wolf Pack. He’s been an enigma through the series, a jaguar shifter assassin who is sometimes an ally and often an adversary. Writing NEW MOON was an adventure because after 7 books, we finally got to go behind the walls of the nefarious Nero Organization, and see the world through Sebastian’s eyes. If you love a good redemption story, I think you’ll enjoy this book. For me, watching Sebastian finally choose a side in the battle brought out a part of him that I never expected. We met his heroine, Isabelle, in WOLF MOON, and she was a blast to write because she turned the fated mate trope around. In all my…

Lisa Kessler | Are you a Binge Reader?
Author Guest / July 31, 2014

Since Netflix started offering complete seasons of television series available for streaming, I started hearing the team “binge watched”. Even before Netflix, I was buying DVDs of my favorite shows and then devoting a weekend to watching episode after episode, no commercials, no waiting a week for the next installment. Bliss! (I can actually admit to watching all the seasons of ANGEL on DVD in one weekend more than once! LOL) But TV seasons aren’t the only binges out there. Before I was a writer, I spent every spare moment being an avid reader and series were always my favorite! However, waiting for the next book in a series I loved was NOT! 🙂 Now that my Night Series is complete, I’ve started hearing from “binge readers”. They typically wait until a series is complete, then load up their eReader with all the books and dive in for a week of total fictional escape! Sounds fun, right? Are you a Binge Reader? Have you ever tried it? My Night Series is now complete! It centers around a secretive race of immortal blood drinkers called, Night Walkers. They’re actually descended from the mysterious Mayan civilization and have been living among us…

Lisa Kessler | The Wounded Hero
Author Guest / March 18, 2014

Hi everyone – I’m so excited to be visiting the Fresh Fiction blog again! I’ve missed all of you! My new release, NIGHT ANGEL, is a standalone novella in my Night Series. This book takes place in Ireland and features Colin, who you met in NIGHT DEMON. At the end of NIGHT DEMON, Colin is left with an injury his immortal body is unable to heal, and NIGHT ANGEL opens with a darker side of Colin. He’d always been quick to smile, with a playful sense of humor, but his world is completely off-balance now that this proud immortal has had his confidence rattled. He’s riddled with doubt about whether he can protect those in his care and he’s trying to hide his injuries. It isn’t until his path crosses a mortal woman who lost her hearing in the Shankill Road bombing that he discovers there may be more to him than his mangled left arm. Writing this book was a labor of love. Having a strong deaf heroine was also a thrill to write. In high school I spent a year as a teacher’s assistant to the deaf classes. I learned sign language and also discovered that being deaf…
