N.J. Walters | 20 Questions: BJORN CURSED
Author Guest / January 18, 2021

1–What’s the name of your latest release?  BJORN CURSED, book 4 of the Forgotten Brotherhood series. 2–What is it about? The Forgotten Brotherhood are a group of paranormal assassins. They aren’t the monsters lurking under the bed. They’re the ones that kill them. Bjorn was cursed by a god and became the first Norse werewolf. Now his past is being used to jeopardize not only his own life but the lives of those he loves and the other members of the Brotherhood. 3–What word best describes your heroine?  Anja Knutson is one tough lady. Through her courage and sacrifice, she gained a second chance at life for her children, even though it meant servitude to a goddess for eternity in the afterlife. 4–What makes your hero irresistible?  Bjorn was driven by anger and vengeance after the death of his family, which ended up with him being cursed and becoming the first Norse werewolf. He’s stubborn and dangerous, but utterly loyal to those he loves. There’s nothing he won’t do to protect them, even defy the gods themselves. 5–Who are the people your main characters turn to when they need help? Anja has absolutely no one she can turn to when…

N.J. Walters | From a Song to a Series
Author Guest / September 24, 2020

One of the most asked questions any author gets is, “Where do your ideas come from?” My answer is always the same–everywhere. I’ve gotten ideas from magazine articles and television shows, snippets of overheard conversation, ideas that pop into my head just before I go to sleep at night–some authors dream their plots, but I’ve never been that lucky–and music. All I can share are my experiences, but I’ve found that something I see or hear sparks my imagination. For example, I did an online quiz once: Which Carnival Ride Are You? I could have answered without taking the quiz, but I did it and got the answer I’d anticipated–a carousel. Not exactly adventurous. But it got me thinking about the carved animals on these rides. Not all of them are pretty horses. Then I started asking the “what if” questions. What if they were wild and exotic animals? What if they were really trapped immortal warriors, placed there by a curse meant to protect them? And what if there was a way for them to escape? Those questions became the foundation of my Hade’s Carnival series featuring a curse, the devil himself, immortal shapeshifting warriors, betrayal, and redemption. Not…

N.J. Walters | 20 Questions: ARCTIC BITE
Author Guest / May 14, 2020

1–What’s the name of your latest release?  ARCTIC BITE, book 2 of the Forgotten Brotherhood series. 2–What is it about?  The Forgotten Brotherhood are a group of paranormal assassins. They aren’t the monsters lurking under the bed. They’re the ones that kill them. 3–What word best describes your heroine?  The word that best describes Cassie Dobbs is strong. She’s seen and done more than most people can imagine. To walk away from it all, knowing it will mean her death takes strength, courage, and commitment. 4–What makes your hero irresistible?  Alexei is huge and quiet. Most people assume he’s all muscle and none too bright. That is a huge mistake. As he likes to say, he’s the total bear package—strength and determination mixed with a keen intellect and curiosity. He’s laidback and surprisingly loveable in spite of being one of the most dangerous assassins on the planet. 5–Who are the people your main characters turn to when they need help?  Cassie has cut all ties with her past in order to survive. Alexei is a loner with no family and only the Brotherhood to call on, and they’re not exactly a social group, but he knows they’ll have his back…

N.J. Walters | 20 Questions: FURY UNLEASHED
Author Guest / March 26, 2020

1–What’s the name of your latest release?  FURY UNLEASHED, the first book in the Forgotten Brotherhood series. 2–What is it about? The Forgotten Brotherhood are a group of paranormal assassins. They aren’t the monsters lurking under the bed. They’re the ones that kill them. Maccus Fury is a fallen angel and their leader. Now Lucifer has sent Morrigan Quill, one of Hell’s bounty hunters after him. This is not your ordinary love story. 3–What word best describes your heroine?  In this series? Badass. 4–What makes your hero irresistible? Maccus is the type to kill first and ask questions later. He’s dangerous, cynical, and trusts no one. How can you not love him? 5–Who are the people your main characters turn to when they need help? No one. As a fallen angel who has spent time in Hell, Maccus trusts no one, not even the members of the Brotherhood. He expects betrayal, so he’s never disappointed when it happens. Morrigan signed a contract with Lucifer to save her sister. The life she once knew is gone, and she can’t afford to trust anyone. 6–What do you love about the setting of your book? New York City is the perfect playground for…

Summer BBQ Recipe Roundup | DRAKON’S KNIGHT by N.J. Walters
Author Guest / June 20, 2019

Who knew that Drakons, the descendants of dragons, from N.J. Walters’ paranormal romance, DRAKON’S KNIGHT, love pasta salad as much as everyone else? This side dish will make the perfect addition to your next Summer BBQ! And make sure you take a look at all of the books in N.J.’s Blood of the Drakon series, too. Be sure to check out our other Summer BBQ Recipe Roundup posts all week! Day 1: Day 2: Day 3: *** I write about drakons. You might be wondering: What’s a drakon? Well, about 4000 years ago, dragons came to our world, mated with human woman, and fathered sons. Then the dragons returned to their own dimension, abandoning their offspring. Feared and shunned, the drakons–or sons of the dragons—have existed among us all this time. They have the cunning, strength, preternatural abilities, and instincts of their dragon sires, along with the intellect and emotions of their human mothers. A deadly combination. The stories about them have become myth and legend. Their existence unknown to all but a select few. But there is a secret group of men and women—The Knights of the Dragon—who are working to capture and cage them. For…

N.J. Walters | Top 5 Reasons to Love a Wolf
Author Guest / May 24, 2018

Anyone who is familiar with my books knows I love writing paranormal stories. I’ve written all kinds of shifters—lions and tigers and bears, oh my, and some dragons, too. But my Salvation Pack series is all about werewolves. What is it about wolf shifters that we all love so much? Whatever the mythology a writer chooses to use in a series, a werewolf is generally stronger than a human male. They are tough and it takes a lot to kill one. And they heal fast from any wound they might sustain. My werewolves are strong, fast, and all incredibly stubborn, which can be a good thing at times, but frustrating as a writer when they insist on having their own way. Werewolves have a culture of their own. They’re outside the norms of society, even if they sometimes live alongside humans. Their world can be violent and primal. My Salvation Pack wolves are all strong, alpha males, any of whom could be leader of his own pack. Instead, they’ve banded together to protect those they love. There is no in-fighting as there is among other packs. They shift into wolves. I mean, it doesn’t get much cooler than that. There…

N.J. Walters | It’s a Pirate’s Life For Me
Author Guest / July 13, 2017

Some books are more personal than others, drawing bits and pieces of my life and interests into the story. That’s exactly what happened with DRAKON’S PLUNDER, book 3 in my Blood of the Drakon series. What’s in a name? Well, a lot. And for me it all started with the heroine. Sometimes I know right away what my character’s name will be. Sometimes it takes a while for me to discover it. This book is set off the coast of Maine and I knew it would involve salvaging a wreck from the 1800s. Even though the ship in my book went down in bad weather, it got me thinking about pirates. I did some online research and discovered Samuel Bellamy, also known as “Black Sam” Bellamy, the “Prince of Pirates.” He was an interesting character who lived large and died young. I thought it fitting my heroine be named Sam Bellamy, since her father wanted a son and claimed they could be related to the pirate, even though that is never substantiated. Which leads me to my own history. No, I’m not related to any pirates…that I know of. But I did grow up hearing about one named Peter Easton….
