Tara Pammi | 20 Questions: CLAIMING HIS BOLLYWOOD CINDERELLA
Author Guest / October 30, 2020

1–What’s the name of your latest release?  CLAIMING HIS BOLLYWOOD CINDERELLA 2–What is it about?  It’s about a jaded Bollywood Superstar who falls head over heels in love with Cinderella during one magical night, who turns out to be his new personal assistant.   3–What word best describes your heroine?  I don’t think Naina can be described in one word. She’s creative and generous and beautiful and sees the good in everything and everyone. 4–What makes your hero irresistible?  Vikram is a Bollywood Superstar. But what makes him truly irresistible is that even with all the success he’s tasted, he’s willing and ready to change for the woman he’s fallen for. 5–Who are the people your main characters turn to when they need help?  Vikram mostly keeps to himself. But it would be his best friend and co-star Zara Khan that he would open up to first. 6–What do you love about the setting of your book?  What’s not to love about Bollywood? It’s the glittering background where stars are made. But it also lends itself to breathtaking, down to earth love stories. 7–Are you a plotter (follow an outline) or a pantster (write by the seat of your pants)?…

Tawna Fenske: | Exclusive Excerpt: JUST A LITTLE BET
Author Guest / October 30, 2020

She rested her hand on her chin, studying him a moment. “Why do you think you burn through girlfriends quicker than most guys change socks?” “Geez, are you my shrink?” It wasn’t a bad question, though. Kayla shrugged, seemingly unfazed. “No, but one of my sisters just did this communication workshop she was telling me about. It’s all about self-reflection and owning your mistakes and shortcomings in relationships. Not that she needs it, since she’s ridiculously happily married, but she loved it.” There was that flash in her eyes again—a sign there was more going on inside that beautiful brain of hers. “Anyway,” she said. “She just sent me this book she got at the workshop. All this talk about self-reflection and shortcomings made me wonder if you have a theory about why you’ve been through so many breakups.” Tony scratched his thumbnail over a mark in the bar and tried to come up with an answer. One that didn’t make him sound like a total asshole, which he probably was. “I don’t know. Lousy schedule, maybe? Smokejumpers are gone so much that it’s tough to have a relationship.” That was dumb. Grady made it work with Willa. Kayla knew…

Elysia Whisler | 20 Questions: RESCUE YOU
Author Guest / October 30, 2020

1–What’s the name of your latest release? RESCUE YOU 2–What is it about? Two sisters who own a dog rescue, a war veteran who owns a gym, and a brood of loveable dogs–all broken and in need of saving—whose paths twine in their individual searches for growth, healing, and, ultimately, love. 3–What word best describes your heroine? Unbreakable. 4–What makes your hero irresistible? His vulnerability. He’s a tough guy, but ultimately Rhett realizes his greatest strength is in his vulnerability–he has to have the courage to let someone in, to surrender a little bit, in order to fully heal and grow. 5–Who are the people your main characters turn to when they need help? Sisters Constance and Sunny have always relied on each other, and in this book their bond only grows. They also rely on long-time, childhood friend, Pete, who rehabilitates some of the rescue dogs into service dogs for veterans. Rhett, the hero, relies on his gym. Not necessarily the people, as he’s still learning to open himself up to others, but the gym itself, the outlet it provides him to channel his energy and passion into something that betters people’s lives. 6–What do you love about the…

Priscilla Oliveras | La Parranda & Other Holiday Traditions with Mi Familia
Author Guest / October 28, 2020

The Christmas holiday season has always been my favorite time of year. When my three girls were younger and still at home, we spent the month of December decorating outside and in, cutting out and frosting sugar cookies, designing and baking gingerbread houses-monuments-buildings from scratch, and sharing special Christmas Eve traditions together. One common thread throughout all those activities was the presence of music–carols playing in the background that enticed us to sing along as we enjoyed our activity. Even though my girls are adults now, I’m pleased to say that we still do the same. . . only, we try to cram it all into a few days or the week we have together when they visit. And yes, we definitely do our best to make the most of it. This year, with the pandemic, I’m not sure if we’ll all be together, but I can guarantee that our gingerbread building permits will meet the regulations and codes in our four different states, and come Christmas Eve, you’ll find us in a group Facetime or Zoom opening our pajamas and reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas aloud. Distance and differing time zones won’t stop us. In fact, one year,…

Makenna Lee | 20 Questions: A SHERIFF’S STAR
Author Guest / October 27, 2020

1–What’s the name of your latest release?  A SHERIFF’S STAR is my new release from Harlequin Special Edition. It is the first book in the Home to Oak Hollow series. 2–What is it about?  A SHERIFF’S STAR is the story of a single mother of a little girl with Down syndrome. Mother and daughter travel to Oak Hollow where Tess Harper will curate the town’s museum before moving to Houston for Hannah’s heart surgery. Upon arrival in the quaint Texas town, her four-year-old slips away for an unannounced game of hide-and-seek. Tess finds her in the arms of the handsome chief of police. Although tempted, she’s not here for romance, and he’s exactly the danger-seeking type she avoids. Staying away from him becomes impossible when he turns out to be her landlord and next-door neighbor. Hannah adores him and his grandmother, making separation difficult. Anson Curry’s alluring tenant is jumpy and standoffish, but he helps her move into the house he’d planned to fill with children. He’s vowed not to start a relationship unless it can be a forever thing, so getting close to another woman who’ll leave town is a chance he shouldn’t take, but her daughter, Hannah, keeps…

K.D. Fisher | Exclusive Excerpt: THE SECRET INGREDIENT
Author Guest / October 27, 2020

Hi, everyone! I’m thrilled to share an excerpt from THE SECRET INGREDIENT, my queer rivals-to-lovers foodie romance. When classically trained chef Adah Campbell and intuitive baker Beth Summers meet, their attraction. . . and rivalry. . . is immediate. The two women couldn’t be more different, but their intense passion for food and undeniable chemistry draws them together. Below is a sneak-peak of Adah and Beth’s meet-cute (in this case more of a meet tense…that’s a thing, right?) THE SECRET INGREDIENT is available now. Thanks for reading and I hope you all enjoy! Excerpt: The woman stepped forward without missing a beat, extending her hand. I closed the gap between us, shivering as her long fingers brushed my palm. Her skin was warm and a little work-rough. A heavy quiet settled over me as we shook hands. I had the strange thought that I could have held her hand all day. Up close I realized her narrow, wary eyes were a soft shade of green. They widened for a fraction of a second before she stepped back, shoving her hands into her pockets. “I’m Adah Campbell, the new executive chef at Bella Vista. This is Sean Jacobs, our GM, and…

Annabeth Albert | Title Challenge: FEEL THE FIRE
Author Guest / October 26, 2020

Hey Fresh Fiction readers! I’m so happy to be here participating in the title challenge for my new release, FEEL THE FIRE. This is book 3 in my Hotshots series about smoke jumpers and wildfire fighters, but it also stands alone well. We met Tucker briefly in book 2, HIGH HEAT, and you’ll see small easter eggs from the couples of books 1 and 2 in FEEL THE FIRE. In FEEL THE FIRE, I wanted to look at some of the people behind the scenes in Wildfire Fighting—the people calling the shots, arranging logistics, and deciding how best to approach a fire season. This year Oregon has been in the news with a very active and heartbreaking fire season that claimed over a million acres. While FEEL THE FIRE includes a number of the realities of fighting wildfires, it centers around the reunion romance of two childhood sweethearts meeting again as adults and coworkers. There’s lots of family and feels and sexy tension! F is for First Kisses E is for Eating, shared meals and long talks E is for Each moment counts L is for Longing * T is for Trust, both past and present H is for Home,…

Lyssa Kay Adams | Exclusive Interview: CRAZY STUPID BROMANCE
Author Guest / October 23, 2020

Hi, Lyssa Kay! Welcome to Fresh Fiction. Please tell us about yourself and your new book, CRAZY STUPID BROMANCE: Thank you so much for having me! I’m sitting in my home office in Michigan, where I write full-time with a very spoiled Maltese at my feet (when he’s not sleeping ON MY DESK). He has been at my side through every Bromance book, including this one. I’m so excited for readers to get their hands on Noah and Alexis’s story in CRAZY STUPID BROMANCE. Both are characters that readers have met in previous Bromance books, and now they will really get to know them on a deeper level. Both are very wounded characters from things that happened in their pasts, but they have helped each other heal as friends. But when Alexis is confronted by a woman claiming to be her long-lost sister, her friendship with Noah begins to blossom into something more as she leans on him to navigate this touchy family situation. There is a subplot in the book about a kidney donation among family members, which is very personal to me. My husband donated a kidney to his sister shortly after we got married, and I poured…

Valerie Bowman | Exclusive Interview: HIRING MR. DARCY
Author Guest / October 20, 2020

Miranda Owen: As somebody who has read and enjoyed your historical romances, I was surprised to find you wrote a contemporary romance. What inspired you to write a contemporary? Is HIRING MR. DARCY part of a series? If so, what is it called? Valerie Bowman: I had the idea for HIRING MR. DARCY for a while and it just wouldn’t leave me alone. I was really nervous to write it and even more nervous to publish it. But I’d always wanted to *try* to write a contemporary rom com. The best part was being able to use any word I wanted without having to look it up to ensure it was in use by the early 1800’s. Ha ha ha HIRING MR. DARCY is part of a trilogy that I’m calling Austen Hunks. (waggles eyebrows) I have two more books planned: KISSING MR. KNIGHTLEY and MARRYING MR. WENTWORTH. As your hero points out (and I totally agree), the heroine is actually much more a “Mr. Darcy” than he is. If anything, I think he’s more of a Henry Tilney (my favorite Austen hero). Is Mr. Darcy your favorite Austen hero? What about your fav hero you’ve written? That you’ve read…
