Terry Spear | 10 Ways to Seduce a Jaguar Shifter
Author Guest / June 12, 2014

You know you want an Alpha jaguar shifter, so I’ll make it really easy for you in case you’re just a little unsure as to how to seduce one of those really hot big cats! 1. Make him purr. A massage will help to ease the tension in those hard, taut muscles after all the physical activities he’s involved in. That will prepare him for more of a workout with you. Guaranteed. 2. Big cats love meat. A prime cut steak will have him eating out of your hands and will give him the sustained energy for much more—where you are concerned. Which is the most important thing! 3. Jaguars are one of only a few big cats that love the water. Others will swim in it when they need to, but jaguars love it. So take him to: a waterfall, a pool, a hot tub, a shower, a lake, the ocean—well, you name it. If it’s water, no telling how much fun the two of you can have. 4. Play chase. Cats love to play chase. But don’t let him do all the chasing. See what happens when you become the hunter. 5. Go climbing. It doesn’t matter if…

Terry Spear | Do You Ever Wish You Were Someone Else?
Author Guest / March 20, 2014

No, I don’t mean like someone rich and famous. But someone real—like Tom Silver’s coyote-wolf girlfriend kissing him on the slopes at the ski resort in Silver Town in SILENCE OF THE WOLF. Or Grant MacQuarrie’s she-wolf, who is going to be a total thorn in his arse in A HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF (August, 2014). Or how about Dave Anderson’s hot jaguar shifter partner, having a whole lot of jungle fun in JAGUAR HUNT (Jun, 2014)? Or maybe you’re interested in becoming one of the hot SEALs’ main squeezes, Hunter in TO TEMPT THE WOLF, Finn in A SEAL in Wolf’s Clothing, or Bjornolf in A SEAL Wolf Christmas. They promise murder, mystery, adventure and a whole lot of loving. A SEAL Wolf for Sale (2015) will be a fun chance to win a hot SEAL at an auction. Got your money ready? But what if you’re not a shifter type already? In SAVAGE HUNGER, the hero has a sister that will fix you right up because she’s a matchmaker extraordinaire. LEGEND OF THE WHITE WOLF is perfect for those who want wild and excitement, and to be totally lost in the winter wonderland of white wolves, clueless…

Terry Spear | Why Werewolves in Scotland???
Author Guest / June 8, 2011

I’ve written about Highlanders in medieval times, vampire Highlanders even, so why not Highland werewolves, too? In truth, I have a whole lot of Highland roots,—the daughter of the duke of Argyle who married the commoner MacNeill and ended up in Prince Edward Island—and many more Scots like the famous and infamous Playfairs and my Hawthorns who were in Ireland first, so it seems only logical that I would set a Highland romance involving werewolves there, too. The only problem being is that though Highlanders are still in abundance, real wolves are not. The problem with that? What if a non-werewolf type Highlander see wolves running across the moor? Right. So it can be a bit of a problem. And there’s still clan conflict going on. So I enjoyed showing clan disputes in the form of werewolf clan troubles! Have I been to the Highlands? Ah yes, last year in October, the most beautiful time of year for me. To my surprise, castle gardens were full of flowers and though the Scots everywhere were nice enough to apologize for their overcast weather, I loved it. In Central Texas, where it was still hot and sunny, I was glad to get…

Terry Spear | Fresh is the Name of the Game!
Author Guest / December 15, 2010

When writing a series, fresh is definitely the name of the game! WOLF FEVER has just been released so for the blog tour, that’s my focus. But at the same time, HEART OF THE HIGHLAND WOLF is up on Amazon for pre-orders (book 7) and I’m waiting approval for DREAMING OF THE WOLF (book 8), plus I’m working on book 9 right now, THE WOLF AND THE SEAL. While I’m writing all these books, I continually think about how each can be a really different story so that readers hopefully won’t be shaking their heads and saying: same story, changed character names, but nothing new and different. As an author of a series, we have to really strive to make each of them unique. In the making of WOLF FEVER, I wanted to write Carol’s story since so many fans loved her in DESTINY OF THE WOLF and asked to see more of her. She’s strong and courageous and sensitive—trying to save others at risk to herself. And smart and determined, too, as a nurse who won’t back down to anyone. She’s caught the eye of a gray wolf leader, Chester Ryan McKinley, from another Colorado town. Now he says…

TERRY SPEARS | Leidolf Wildhaven and His Workout Routine
Author Guest / August 23, 2010

Coming up with new blog post ideas for a blog tour can be challenging. So when I mentioned this to a fan, she suggested my having Leidolf as my studio guest. What she particularly wanted to know was: Does he work out and what he does in a day. And how many times? I’m sure running through the woods naked is a regular routine. But, he also must lift weights to get that great body and stamina. I heard he has stamina. All night long. –Diva Donna Thanks so much, Donna, for giving me some wolf ideas to discuss and your fun take on the subject. Absolutely, Leidolf has stamina. It’s a wolf thing, you know. Luckily, Leidolf Wildhaven, of Portland, Oregon and the surrounding area (he’s a pack leader, so the surrounding area is his home also), does indeed work out. Mostly, of late, with Cassie Roux, but since this is a G-Rated blog, I’ll have to suffice it to say, he wants to leave his legacy to the pack, and he’ll have a WHOLE lot of fun doing it. Plus, another blog wishes me to discuss the mating behavior of wolf packs. Hmmm…so I don’t want to get…

Terry Spear | Werewolves Need Loving Too
Uncategorized / February 5, 2010

This Christmas, my son got me the computer role-playing game called Dragon Ageand when I need a break from writing and edits, I stop to play the game. Now, in one part of the game, and in many of these fantasy worlds, wolves are not nice. But not only do they have bad wolves, they also have badder werewolves. Some are rabid, some are plain old werewolves, some speak, but all of them are deadly to the core. To solve the problem of the local elf type people who have contracted the werewolf curse, my heroine with her team of hero and heroines has to destroy the original werewolf who caused everyone else’s disease. This is typical of the old-horror story werewolf myth. Here I am, playing the game, and wanting desperately to find a peaceful solution. I want to cure the elves, and turn the werewolves into all around nice guys. I want to show the wolves running around in the forest that they can hunt their regular menu items and leave adventurers to solve other kinds of worldly problems and nobody gets hurt that way. *sigh* To read more of WEREWOLVES NEED LOVING TOO and to comment for…

Terry Spear | Realistic Urban Fantasies
Uncategorized / December 31, 2009

It seems that if a world is a fantasy, anything could go. It’s fantastical after all. But the fun in creating an urban fantasy for me is in making it seem real enough that readers will feel as though werewolves, or vampires, live among us. Just think, the hunky guy who lives in the apartment next door, who helped shovel snow out of your path, could be a werewolf. Or a vampire. He dances, and drinks, and eats, and acts just like a regular guy. With a few exceptions. In both cases, the hero has bite. Either as a wolf-my, what very big teeth you have… Or as a vampire-make my day. They’re both very adept at fighting the good fight and they stick with a woman in the long run. Both are extremely protective of their kind and of those who come under their protection, can be a bit possessive and bossy, but the heroines have enough starch to get what they want also. I’ve been asked which I prefer-a vampire or a werewolf. And the truth is I love both. To read more of REALISTIC URBAN FANTASIES please click here. Terry Spear | Making Your Story FRESH!
Uncategorized / August 20, 2009

First off, I wanted to congratulate Fresh Fiction on celebrating their anniversary and thank everyone for having me guest blog as part of this momentous occasion! I was thinking about the title Fresh Fiction, and you know, all fiction is basically the same set of stories. But writers make it different based on their voice. And their voice is derived from their world views, morals, backgrounds, work and life experiences. Take a for instance: Three women in a local RWA chapter took off running with an idea–same idea…man/woman left at altar…to face a wedding-less day. That was it. Same old story. But two of those women turned their stories into books that ended up selling to the same publisher! For the readers out there: If you had a chance to create a story that was totally different than you’d ever written, what would it be?
