Terry Spear | One of My Favorite Scenes from A Billionaire Wolf Christmas
Author Guest / September 27, 2018

Aidan’s breath came out in a frosty mist as he continued making his way down. Seeing the deep never-ending chasm on either side of their ledge, he felt his blood turn to ice. He was afraid one misstep by either of them while they attempted to shift and dress could mean their demise. “If we have to, we can call for a helicopter rescue,” Ted said. “Not when any of us are wolves, we can’t.” Aidan looked down, another fifteen feet, or so, to go. He wasn’t even sure he could stand on the ledge with them, or if Holly or Nick would have the strength to climb up, even with the aid of the rope. Had she ever climbed an ice mountain before? Nick had the gear, so he probably knew how to climb, but could he? Aidan noticed the way he was holding his front paw, not resting it firmly on the ice, and that indicated he’d injured it. Aidan couldn’t see a break. Maybe a light sprain, or a bad one. He hoped he was wrong. He moved carefully down a few more feet, shaking loose more snow. He was sweating, despite the cold. When he finally…

Shape-Shifters I love
ParaNormal Bites / May 17, 2018

As I’m about to read SERPENTINE – the latest book in Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake series – and dive into a world of vampires, hunters, and wereleopards, it got me thinking about my love of romances featuring animal shifters. I enjoy a good vampire story, but in the age-old debate over blood suckers vs furry warriors – I’m Team Werewolf. I love werewolves, werebears, werehoney badgers, and everything in between. And how amazing are heroes who also happen to turn into dragons? Recently I’ve read a bunch of fabulous new releases with shape shifters of all sorts as main characters – MIDNIGHT WOLF by Jennifer Ashley, HOT AND BADGERED by Shelly Laurenston, ALL’S FAIR IN LOVE AND WOLF by Terry Spear, WICKED AND WILD by Cynthia Eden, and the anthology THE BIG ALPHA IN TOWN with stories by Eve Langais, Millie Taiden, and Kate Baxter. MIDNIGHT WOLF by Jennifer Ashley Shifters Unbound #11 Angus Murray, bouncer for a New Orleans Shifter bar, is sent to round up an elusive, Collar-less Shifter woman, Tamsin Calloway, who is causing trouble for Shifter Bureau, and possesses information they want. If Angus refuses, he risks losing his cub. He finds Tamsin but she’s…

Terry Spear | Wildlife Conservation Tips
Author Guest / May 3, 2018

Awareness is one of the ways that people can help in the conservation of wolves and other wildlife. For wolves, finding wolf centers online, going to the wolf centers, buying merchandise, or adopting wolves are easy ways people can participate in the support of wolves and to help provide for the education on them and their care. This is true for big cat reserves and other such places like bear reserves, or even facilities that care for injured birds: owls, falcons, eagles. Teaching our children, taking them to facilities like this, helps to educate future generations. I read an article about a man who was paid to kill foxes. At some point in his life, he began to study them, taking pictures and documenting them instead. Foxes, their kits—what a treasure to share with the world. And yet if he hadn’t changed his occupation, he would have continued to eliminate foxes for a living. He now has been featured many times in National Geographic. Awareness, a change of attitude, a willingness to get along. I was reading where certain shells are used for making jewelry. People collect sand dollars that are living creatures, and shells that house crabs. Oftentimes we…

Terry Spear | FLIGHT OF THE WHITE WOLF Excerpt
Excerpt / March 29, 2018

What were the odds that Gavin would run into the woman that he’d accused of stealing Samoyeds and reselling them for profit, who was also the one piloting the plane he had to take today? He recalled that was her occupation back in Big Lake, and how he’d thought she could be smuggling stolen pets across the border. But he still felt like he’d met her in Seattle. Which was why he’d asked if she had a sister. A twin, since wolves often had multiple births, that maybe he’d seen instead. All decked out in a leather flight jacket and black, skin-tight pants and laced-up boots, blond hair cut shoulder length and blue eyes fixed on him, the Arctic wolf was just as beautiful as the time he’d met her in Alaska. He wondered how she’d feel if she knew he hated to fly. She’d looked highly annoyed that she had to fly him anywhere and probably wanted to kick him out somewhere over the Boundary Waters—until she’d discovered he was a wolf like her. But not just any kind of wolf. A white wolf too. Even so, she was…prickly. Holding a grudge against him for entering her home and…

Terry Spear | My New Year Resolutions
Author Guest / January 11, 2018

Write, write, write. I plan to have two new wolf books and a jaguar book for 2018, need to figure out who and what. For the jaguar one, I want Howard, the former Enforcer, who desperately needs a mate. I envision in him in the jungle, where all big cats need to get away, and the Enforcer she-cat who is ready to put him on her hitlist if he doesn’t toe the line. And one of Grant’s brothers, for a new Highland Wolf book. Not sure about the other. I’ll be writing another YA fae story, cougar shifter, Medieval Highlander, and polar bear shifter book. Other than that, I can’t wait to visit a friend and fan who took me to see two wolf reserves in Minnesota and we’re going back. She and another friend, who took me all over San Diego, will be there, and we all went to see the wolves in New Mexico together. I want to see the wolf reserve near where my son is stationed in Omaha, also. I love to share pictures of them with my fans. I’m thinking of going to Denver to RWA and one of the ladies living there said she’d…

Terry Spear | DREAMING OF A WHITE WOLF CHRISTMAS
Excerpt / October 6, 2017

Ready for a little preview into Terry Spear’s new series? “Okay, well, we’re continuing our adventure and will let you know when we stop for the night. For now, I need to locate a pet hotel.” Candice growled. “A hotel that allows pets, I mean.” Owen smiled at her. Then he signed off with Cameron and Faith. Four hours later, Owen pulled into a service station to fill up on gas and check for a hotel in the area that allowed pets. He found one, made reservations, and climbed back in the car. “Okay, I got a room, but they only had one king-size bed. We can order room service if you still haven’t changed back.” Candice nodded. “I’ll probably have to take you in the side door after I register for the room. Better than parading you through the lobby, since I don’t have the proper ID to show you’re a service dog, in case anyone believes you’re a wolf and won’t let you stay.” He pulled out of the service station and back onto the road. “Having a pet really narrows down the availability of a hotel we can stay at.” She let out her breath. “I know….

An Excerpt from SEAL WOLF Undercover by Terry Spear
Author Guest , Excerpt / August 10, 2017

For about an hour, he chased the wolf through the underbrush of the misty forest, the birds diving for cover in the Douglas fir and western hemlocks as soon as they saw him coming. Vaughn wondered where the wolf was going. He’d been looping around as if trying to reach a location, but then moving in another direction, most likely fearing Vaughn would catch up to him. Then somewhere in the deep forest ahead, the wolf suddenly howled. Calling for help? Out there? That meant he’d stopped long enough to howl. Vaughn raced forward to close the gap, trying to reach him before he ran off again. Or before reinforcements arrived. Why else would the wolf howl? Other members of his pack must be out there. Maybe he thought he could scare Vaughn off, making him think a wolf shifter pack was out there and would back him up any minute. Vaughn had even used that ploy himself a time or two. He wasn’t giving up on his prey no matter what. He had to learn the truth. Had the wolf standing next to the bloody mess on the cabin floor been the same wolf who had torn into Douglas?…

Terry Spear | Decorating For Christmas, Werewolf Style
Author Guest / October 16, 2014

I LOVE Christmas and decorating, and for werewolves it’s the same. The only difference might be that they LOVE decorating with live plants as it reminds them of their trips to the woods. Evergreen garlands. Mistletoe. Poinsettias. But even better, the Highland wolves in A Highland Wolf Christmas are starting a brand new tradition! A living tree! Shelly is the botanist in the family, and this is her dream. Not only will the pack enjoy the living Christmas tree, but after Christmas day, the pack will gather and they’ll plant it and make even more of a forest on their castle grounds. What can be better than that? Just in case you’re interested, they do have living Christmas trees at various places that sell trees for that special time of year. If you decide to have a wolfish Christmas, they recommend getting the tree late in the season so that it’s not in the heat-warmed house for too long. As to having that hot wolf help you decorate it, you’ll have to do more of a search for him. Do you have a special Christmas collection? My daughter has snowmen. I have santas. But I also have snowmen and other…

Terry Spear | How A Highland Alpha Wolf Makes A First Impression
Author Guest / August 12, 2014

Everyone knows how important first impressions are, aye? Grant MacQuarrie, the hero of my recent release HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF, wants badly to make a strong first impression on my heroine—he wants to scare her off! Colleen Playfair wishes to claim her inheritance, a Scottish castle in the highlands. But she is an American, what could she possibly know about managing such a large estate. Grant knows. His people have been taking care of the land for generations. As far as he’s concerned, the sooner Colleen leaves, the better. And here you thought he would try to make an impression to woo the lass! Nay, just the opposite. And so, Grant has it all worked out with his Highland wolf pack. They will get all greased up, bare-chested, swing hefty swords, and wear kilts—voila! The lass will take one look at all the ferocious fighting and she won’t last long. Problem solved. Everything can go on as it has for centuries. So this is the plan: Grant’s triplet brothers, Enrick and Lachlan, joined him as they watched the men gathering in the inner bailey. Everyone was dressed in kilts and no shirts. Grant had figured they would look even…
