Kathy Lyons/Jade Lee | Guess How This Book was Born?
Author Guest / March 21, 2019

The Detroit Grizzlies are back and ready to end the plague that has been killing humans and shifters alike. TAMING HER MATE was born March 19, and I couldn’t be prouder. This is a really great book and I hope you feel as excited about it as I do, because this book…well, it was born of something really amazing. Guess what it was… A. A contract. I’m a working writer. If I don’t write, I don’t pay my bills. The amazing part? Just that. I write the weird things in my head, and I get paid. Which means I get paid for what I love doing the most in the world. Pretty cool, huh? B. Bad seafood. I ate something not so fresh at a restaurant, and while I was bowing to the porcelain altar, I thought, what if I’m changing into a shifter right now? I mean, look in the mirror. I could be a mangy bear. What if shifting worked really well for some and not so well for others? Would I survive? (I decided probably not, so it would be best if my heroes and heroines saved everyone, including me.) C. A bad shifter book. Yes, we’ve…

Kathy Lyons/Jade Lee | Taming Her Mate + Year of the GRIZZLY!
Author Guest / February 21, 2019

What do a bear and a wolf eat on their one free night? When I saw that Fresh Fiction had recipes up last week for Valentine’s Day, I had to laugh. The hero and heroine of my new novel, Taming Her Mate, Frankie and Ryan, are busy people! They’re saving Detroit from a deadly virus and keeping their respective shifter packs from going to war with each other. Their meals reflect their busy lifestyles. Inspired by the delcious recipes shared last week, I knew whatever my characters would cook would be interesting… For example, Frankie is the daughter of the alpha wolf. She’s got to help out whenever life gets too busy for anyone in the pack. That means comfort foods that are easy to remember and that picky pups will eat. She makes the simplest meatloaf recipe she can remember with ingredients on hand and while it’s in the oven, she whips up a box of Macaroni and Cheese. And now here’s the cool secret: ketchup and brown sugar. The original recipe called for a modest amount of both, but let’s face it, who doesn’t love ketchup and brown sugar? She mixes up enough of that to slather over…

Where is Kathy Lyons?
Author Guest / October 23, 2018

Guess where I was this weekend? Home with my feet up, my cat on my lap, as I binged watched Firefly and Serenity. (Again) Dancing with the Stars. As in out in my backyard with my husband as we celebrated empty nesting. New York to see as many Broadway shows as we could cram into 3 days. At Shameless Con in Orlando where a TON of fun is had by all. Answer: D — Shameless Con! I met lots of great friends there—old and new. Had a wonderful time at the Entangled Candy and Spoons party. (I was the dealer so my body was not in danger as people dove across the table for spoons and huge towers of books as prizes) Here’s a picture of me at my booth before we started. And then there are great pictures of the Meredith Wild after party. So many great costumes! (It was Wild Circus themed) And lastly, this is me dealing Spoons in Entangled Publishing Candy and Spoons event! Whew! Then I rewarded myself!

Kathy Lyons | GUESS WHERE I AM!

HOTEL CALIFORNIA (aka Mission Inn) in Riverside, CA How many of you know the cover of the Eagle’s album Hotel California? That’s actually a picture of the Mission Inn located in Riverside, California. It’s a fabulous hotel with lots of interesting nooks and crannies. I went there for the Historical Romance Retreat and joined in the scavenger hunt. The organizer (Renee Bernard) did a great job, and the hotel staff members were wonderful as they directed us around the hotel, former abbey, and former mission. I don’t have room here for all the pictures I took, but I’ll give you an idea. First off, here’s the scavenger hunt list. Here’s items 2 and 3—the oldest bell and the biggest bell. You can’t read the plaque, but it says this bell of Spanish origin dates from 1247 AD and is considered the oldest bell in Christendom. Item 4 – Napoleon and Josephine were the two birds. We searched a long time for Item 8 – the smallest door still in use. The tiniest one pictured isn’t still in use, but the other two were. Item 11 the Glockenspiel was huge. It’s hard to see here, but there are two figures inside,…

Kathy Lyons | Guess how SLIDING HOME was born!
Author Guest / September 6, 2018

Yeah! Sliding Home releases to the world August 13. I’m so excited for this book, you have no idea. My editor likes this hero best because… (guess) He’s a fireman. Or he was until he became a hot baseball shortstop. He’s got family issues and who doesn’t? He seduces good girl Ellie in a really unusual balcony scene. She’s always had a thing for baseball players. In her words, “They have the best butts of anyone professional athlete.” Answer: All of the above! Yes my editor loves this book for a variety of reasons, all of which include the sexy hero, baseball yumminess, and his realistic family issues. The chemistry just worked right in the book. Plus, she loves how the book came to be. Guess where I got the idea for the heroine’s “Rejection Therapy” A backyard barbeque when every single person said a hard “No!” to my potato and avocado salad On the side of a tube of toothpaste. Some of us read everything including whatever’s hanging around the bathroom. So there it was on the side of a tube of Sensodyne. TED talks. It was a very learned (and fun) piece about wanting Olympic ring donuts and…

Who Knew Detroit Could Be So Sexy?
Author Guest , Giveaways / April 12, 2018

There are lots of fun things to do in the Motor City. My favorites include things like NOT getting mugged and NOT witnessing a gang killing because that’s all I hear about in today’s news. City gone bankrupt. The terrors of 8 Mile. A whole lot of empty urban landscape ready for filming the newest zombie apocalypse movie. But Detroit still has a lot going on that’s fun. Guess which ones of the following are true. A great big tire on I-95. It was a Ferris wheel at the 1964/5 New York World’s Fair, but now has tread where the gondolas used to be. Motown Museum. A small shingle clad building where Motown’s unique sound was produced from 1957-1072. Any Marvin Gaye fans out there? The crumbling ruins of The Grande Ballroom, a place that once hosted jazz legends and psychedelic rock bands. The Detroit Children’s Zoo. Don’t worry. There’s a new exciting one on the opposite side of Belle Isle, but the remains of this one are still visible. Michigan’s Central Station – Hundreds of trains passed through there each day…once upon a time The Heidleberg Project – One man’s attempt to bring beauty to an urban landscape by…

Kathy Lyons | Guess What I’m Doing This Week!
Author Guest / March 8, 2018

So I’ve been doing some weird things this week. Guess what they are… Running around the neighborhood yelling, “The Grizzlies are here! And look what kind of animals they are! No wait! The GRIZZLIES GO WILD series continued this week! Yup, my wonderful grizzly bear shifter series has started up again.
