The Character Most Likely – Samantha Chase
Author Guest / December 9, 2022

With Samantha Chase’s new book TEMPT ME out, we here at Fresh Fiction thought it would be a fun way for readers to get to know her characters better by playing a little game we call “The Character Most Likely“. If you’re new to her Donovans series – it’s a contemporary romance series set in a small town.   Most likely to take a chance? That would definitely be the baby of the family, Arianna. Her story was DARE ME and if you read it, you know that girl is all about taking a chance and accepting all kinds of dares Most likely to fall in love unexpectedly? I’m going to have to go with Patrick on this one, only because he’s managed to stay under the radar with his mother’s matchmaking and he’s so focused on his career that he’s not even looking or thinking about falling in love.   Most likely to be attracted by their opposite? Ooo…it’s kind of a tie. Liam and Ryleigh are probably the most rigid in their personalities and lifestyles and I think they NEED someone who is their opposite and will force them out of their comfort zones to make them happy.  …

Holy crap. . . He’d killed her. Carter dropped to his knees and gently shook her the second Emery collapsed. “Emery? Emery, come on now. . . wake up!” Fear had him by the throat when he realized how rough he’d been with her a moment ago. He had no idea anyone was staying here and thought she was a burglar! How was he supposed to know it was Emery? And for that matter, he was still confused as all get-out why she was here. Giving her another small shake before checking her pulse, he continued to coax her to wakefulness. His hand getting smacked away was kind of a shock. “You still know how to make an entrance, Montgomery,” she murmured, slowly sitting up. Looking around as if still a little dazed, she took her time before letting her eyes land on him. And when they did, they were shooting daggers. “Are you okay?” Hesitantly, he reached out to help her to her feet and once again she moved his hand away. It wasn’t until she was up and steady on her feet that he realized how little she was wearing. “Um. . . Emery?” “What is your deal,…

Samantha Chase | Turning Tough Situations Into Happy Endings
Author Guest / April 30, 2019

We’ve all met those couples who met, fell in love, and are living happily ever after, right? I think it’s awesome when it happens and while I love hearing about it – briefly – their story isn’t one you could make a romance novel out of. I mean, you could, but why? Angst and beating the odds in one way or another make for an emotional story and that’s what keeps you turning the pages. For those of you who’ve read my books, you know I tend to be fairly light on the angst, but that doesn’t mean my couples have it easy. I’ve had things as easy as couples having to deal with living far apart and figuring out logistically how they can be together, to couples where fertility is an issue and the heroine sacrifices her chance of a future with the hero because he desperately wants a large family. Opposites attract, dating the best friend’s older brother, office romances, enemies to lovers – all of these tropes bring conflict into a story and if we’re honest, we love it! We want the struggle, we want our couple to have to fight for their happily ever after! I…

Samantha Chase | Exclusive Excerpt: SUDDENLY MINE

Grabbing his coffee mug—because cutting coffee out of his diet was not going to happen—he walked out onto the deck and sat down. This was something that really did relax him, and he had to admit, it was nice to be able to stay out here and linger rather than rushing inside to get ready for work. Except…every time he came out here, he looked for Sophie. He was still kicking himself for the way they’d ended things when she was here. It wasn’t his intention to make her feel bad or for her to leave the way she had. But in that moment, he was feeling a little overwhelmed and he knew he hadn’t handled things well. And in the process, he’d hurt her feelings. While he wanted to apologize to her, he wasn’t sure how. Sure, he could’ve gone to the water every time he saw her, but every time he was about to step off the deck, he chickened out. Partly because he wasn’t really sure what to say, and partly because he was afraid he had misread the situation and maybe she was only interested in him as…you know, a patient. And man, would that suck….

Samantha Chase – I’m With the Band – An Author’s Playground
Author Guest / September 4, 2018

When I first set out to write this series – Band on the Run – this was not quite the way I had it planned.  It was going to be a trilogy, but unrelated. For those of you who know me, I’m kind of known more for my family sagas, but the chance to write something a little different fed my creativity in a way that nothing had in a while.  So how did we end up here? After much discussion, it was decided that the music trilogy would be an off-shoot of my Shaughnessy Brothers series. Why? Because Riley Shaughnessy is a rock star whose band is on hiatus. 😊 CUE THE INSPIRATION!! And so the series now had it’s players and its foundation and I have to say, I have loved every minute of it. You see, music plays a large part in my life. I’m married to a drummer. My older son was in a band.  Overall, we are a family who LOVES music, so the thought of writing books set in the music world fascinated me. BUT…I was going to take a different approach to writing about a rock band. I wasn’t writing about life on…

Meet the Boas & Tiaras Authors | Samantha Chase rocks out to Taylor Swift!
Author Spotlight / June 1, 2018

As we speed closer and closer to Boas & Tiaras (click here to buy your ticket) we decided to give you more insight into our attending authors. We’ll highlight one author in each newsletter with five quick questions.     Let’s see what Samantha Chase has to say! Pitch us your newest book in one sentence. Two years after one of the steamiest weekends of her life, Megan Montgomery is hoping for a second chance and a happily ever after. What book made you fall in love with the genre(s) you write? Sandra Brown’s 22 INDIGO PLACE. I could read that book over and over and over and to me it captures everything a contemporary romance should be. Tell us about your favorite character you’ve ever written. It’s like picking your favorite child and I always feel guilty when I do this!! But…ONE of my favorite characters is Dylan Anders from ONE MORE PROMISE. Everything about him just felt so incredibly real for me. I’ve been on the fringe of witnessing people dealing with addiction and I wanted Dylan to be real and not a watered down character dealing with the aftermath of it. I loved his vulnerability, his struggles, and…

Samantha Chase | My top-five favorite romantic movies
Author Guest / May 1, 2018

Hey, everyone!! So as you know, UNTIL THERE WAS US is available now and it is a second-chance romance. I love that trope!! It’s a fun trope to read and that got me thinking about some of my favorite movies that share it! So here are my top five quirky picks for second chance romance movies!! THE PHILADELPHIA STORY LOVE this movie! Classic Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant, and Jimmy Stewart. Can it get any better than that?? It’s fun, it’s witty, and just everything a second chance romance – with a hint of a love triangle – should be!! WHEN HARRY MET SALLY True, it’s technically a friends to lovers story, however, once they slept together and Harry tries to win Sally back, you have the makings of a great second chance! And really, I can watch this movie every day and never get bored! GREASE Summer romance. They think they’ll never see each other again and then BAM! First day of school and there they are! Need I say more? Although, admit it, you’re singing Summer Nights in your head right now, aren’t you? SCROOGED Okay, this is my all-time favorite Christmas movie but when you push all of…

Samantha Chase | Digging into the ‘Montgomery Brothers’
Author Guest / April 25, 2018

By Susan Gorman Samantha Chase is my favorite contemporary author. I love her Montgomery Brothers series featuring a matchmaking uncle and his sons, nephews and nieces. William Montgomery’s charming personality and his schemes captivated me and I couldn’t wait to see which couple would be featured in the next novel. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to share breakfast with Samantha Chase when she visited The Boston area last weekend! Over orange juice and omelets, we talked about the Montgomery family… Susan Gorman: I was surprised to learn that the Montgomery series was a trilogy—WAIT FOR ME, TRUST IN ME
and STAY WITH ME featuring Lucas, Jason and Mac Montgomery— and that it was indie published! It seems like a lifetime ago that I first released WAIT FOR ME! Oh my goodness, I had no idea what I was in for when I introduced the Montgomerys! This was the series that really was the breakout for me. Susan Gorman: Can you tell us how the series developed into nine books, and about the journey from indie to traditional publishing? Honestly, I never envisioned the series going beyond the original three. That was the plan – a trilogy. Readers were very…
