Author Guest / February 24, 2022

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Paige Tyler! Writes: I write romantic suspense and paranormal romantic suspense. My books feature lots of action, thrills, and of course, suspense, along with the perfect amount of steamy romance. My newest book is called TRUE WOLF and it’s the third book in the Special Threat Assessment Team (STAT) series. Think Mission Impossible…with Werewolves! In this story, werewolf agent Caleb Lynch takes the lead on STAT’s newest assignment to track down the thieves who stole nuclear weapons from the air force. His best connection is a brother-sister duo with a shady record, but there’s no guarantee Caleb can trust them―especially since Brielle Fontaine has very unique supernatural abilities. About: I’m a life-long lover of romance and a USA Today and New York Times Bestselling writer since 2004. I started with a very small indie website that would pay me chapter-by-chapter, and then moved up over the years to bigger and bigger digital publishers until I started publishing with Sourcebooks in 2012. Since then, I’ve…

Paige Tyler | Exclusive Excerpt: ROGUE WOLF
Author Guest / August 26, 2021

“When I’m with you, I get these crazy feelings,” she started slowly. “Emotions I’ve never experienced before come bubbling up out of nowhere. They’re so powerful, they take my breath away.” Even as Samantha recognized the complete truth of what she’d said, it was impossible to miss the effect her words had on Trey. He looked stunned. “Crap,” she muttered, wrapping her arms around herself protectively. “This isn’t coming out the way I wanted. I must sound insane.” But instead of backing away like she expected, Trey took her into his arms, squeezing tight and making the most calming shush- ing sounds she’d ever heard. “You don’t sound insane,” he said, tugging her close until her head was nestled comfortably under his chin. “I completely get everything you’re saying. It’s not crazy at all.” Samantha pulled away, opening her mouth to tell him she didn’t appreciate being patronized. She was so focused on what she was about to say, she forgot about Trey’s mug sitting on the edge of the counter. At least until her flailing hand slammed into it and sent it flying, spinning the thing into the tile backsplash hard enough to shatter it into a thousand pieces,…

Paige Tyler | Exclusive Excerpt: UNDERCOVER WOLF
Author Guest / May 27, 2021

“Yeah, I noticed.” She sighed, wondering if she should have put the offer to join STAT out there anyway and feeling like an important opportunity had passed her by. “As long as you know that simply because other people see you as a monster, it doesn’t mean you are one. That’s Erin’s and Elliott’s baggage, not yours.” Sawyer gave her a warm smile. “Says the werewolf who hasn’t shifted since the day her family called her a monster and threw her out of the house.” Harley couldn’t argue with that. “Haven’t you ever heard the old adage, do as I say, not as I do?” she quipped. He laughed and so did she, right up until she realized it wasn’t funny at all. Sawyer was right. While they’d both been rejected by people they cared about, it seemed as if he was already dealing with it and moving on, whereas her entire life—right down to her ability to control her inner werewolf and keep that part of her hidden away—was still tied to that one painful moment eight years ago. It was more than sad. It was pathetic. Harley didn’t realize there were tears in her eyes until Sawyer took…

Paige Tyler | 20 Questions: WOLF UNTAMED
Author Guest / November 19, 2020

1–What’s the name of your latest release?  Wolf Untamed 2–What is it about?  Wolf Untamed is the 11th book in the Special Wolf Alpha Team series. In this story, Officer Diego Miguel Martinez and his SWAT team of werewolves have been dealing with a city gone mad. People are behaving strangely, committing violent crimes out of the blue, without even remembering it. Is it delirium–a new drug supposedly flooding the streets–or is it something much more terrifying? Bree Harlow is dealing with issues of her own. Her ex-husband was sent to prison and her son, Brandon, has been struggling. He’s been acting out and getting into more and more trouble, and Bree has no clue what to do next. When she takes him out for breakfast at their favorite diner, hoping to get him to open up about what’s wrong, the situation takes a drastic turn after someone walks into the place with a gun. As Diego and some of the other members of the SWAT team show up to help, Bree’s life is sent careening down a completely unexpected path. Bree’s son is definitely dealing with some big issues, just not the issues she assumed. 3–What word best describes…

Paige Tyler | My Favorite Disney Movies and Characters + Giveaway!
Author Guest / November 21, 2019

When I was asked to write a blog about my favorite Disney movies and characters, I was thrilled. I mean, I love blogging about my books and which actors I envision for different characters in them. But getting a chance to dish about Disney, aka the Happiest Place on Earth? Who wouldn’t want to do that? I first fell in love with Disney when I was little and absolutely adored watching The Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights. Obviously there’s a lot going on there with the happy memories from that time, sitting on the couch with my mom and dad as Tinker Bell did her arc over the top of the castle before each show started. Just thinking about it now makes me smile. I went to Walt Disney World with my parents when I was in high school, but it didn’t become an obsession until hubby and I went there on our honeymoon. Yeah, some people head to an exotic island for their honeymoon, but hubby and I went to Disney! See, he’d never even seen a Disney movie until I introduced him to The Little Mermaid. He’d never admit it, but I think he was hooked…

Paige Tyler | How to Know When You’ve Found the One
Author Guest / June 20, 2019

From Zane’s Point of View “You want to know how a werewolf realizes when they’ve found The One, that one-in-a million soul mate that’s supposed to be out there for all of us?” Zane Kendrick repeated, sure he must have heard the question wrong. When the woman sitting across the table from him nodded, all he could do was stare, not sure how this situation had turned so personal. Zane had arrived at the SWAT compound that morning thinking a local reporter was there to interview him about the narcotics case his pack had helped with recently, but instead he’d walked into the training room to find a blogger from a website called Fresh Fiction waiting for him. Everything had gone pear-shaped in a damn hurry after that. Especially when it became obvious the woman knew he and the rest of the Dallas PD SWAT team were all werewolves. “Yes,” she said. “I’ve heard it’s already happened to several of your pack mates, so I thought it would be a good question to start with. And I have no doubt my readers are going to find it interesting. In fact, several of them have already asked how they can snag…

Paige Tyler | My Favorite Scene from WOLF RISING
Author Guest / November 1, 2018

I’ve always been a sucker for that first “cute-meet” scene in a romance story. You know, when the hero and heroine first make eye contact and magic happens? Well, it didn’t quite happen that way in Wolf Rising, Book 8 in the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team Series. That’s because werewolf/SWAT Officer Jayden Brooks was too busy that first meeting saving high school teacher Selena Rosa from one of her former students who’d dropped out to join a gang. Brooks had to tackle Selena to the floor to keep her from being shot, which left her a little woozy. At least that seems to be the reason the normally fiery woman is so out of it. Their second meeting in the dayroom of the Dallas SWAT compound was much more “cute-meet.” As you can see from the excerpt below, this second meeting does go well, with lots of banter and sexual chemistry. This scene was so much fun to write because the two characters seemed to hit it off pretty much all on their own. I barely had to work that hard at it. I just put them in a room together and they took it from there.   Excerpt:…

Paige Tyler | What makes shifter heroes and heroines so compelling to write about?
Author Guest / April 5, 2018

My answer to this question is probably different than you’d get out of most writers because I write with a partner—my husband. We approach our stories—and shifters—from two different directions, which mean we each bring something different to the table. When it comes to our writing team roles, Hubby’s responsible for the action stuff. Think fighting, shooting and blowing things up. Yeah, it’s cliché, but it’s what he does best. And if he has to write action, he’d prefer to involve shifters. According to him, there’s no action sequence that can’t be improved with some claws, fangs, and the general attitude that comes with being a shifter. There’s also the healing factor that comes with involving shifters in action situations. Hubby is happy because he can inflict more damage and mayhem, and it all gets healed up in a few days. In X-OPS EXPOSED, the hero, Tanner Howland, former Army Ranger and current slightly unstable lion hybrid, gets involved in an underground fighting ring, forced to fight to protect other shifters like himself. You can imagine the fun hubby had with those fight sequences. I’m responsible for the emotional baggage in the stories, so for me, the shifter angle provides…

An Excerpt from WOLF HUNGER
Excerpt / December 7, 2017

“Now that you know everything there is to know about me,” she said, licking cheesecake off her fork with a little show of tongue simply because she liked Max watching her do it, “let’s talk about you.” His smile wilted a little, much to her disappointment. “My life isn’t nearly as interesting as yours. Definitely nothing worth talking about.” “That’s silly,” she scolded. “I bet you have a lot of fascinating stuff to talk about. I mean, for starters, did you grow up in a cop family here in Dallas?” Max didn’t say anything, and for a moment, she wasn’t sure he’d heard her. Instead, he focused on his slice of cheesecake, like he was more interested in that than her. Finally, he looked up and gave another smile—only this time, it lacked humor. “No, I didn’t grow up in Texas. I was born in Las Vegas and lived there until I was eighteen,” he said quietly. “My family was…well, let’s just say it was about as far as you can get from a cop family. To put things in proper perspective, if one or two events in my life had gone slightly different, you’d be sitting at the table…

Five things that set the shifters from X-Ops apart from others in the paranormal romance world
Author Guest / September 14, 2017

The entire concept of the X-OPS series started around 2011, when the Navy SEALs were in the news seemingly every week. As I was coming up with ideas for the first book in the X-OPS Series (HER PERFECT MATE), I knew I wanted to partner up shifters with covert operatives. Think putting shifters on a team with SEALs, Special Forces, CIA or FBI. But for that to work, I knew my shifters were going to have to be different. I simply couldn’t imagine my operatives going into a dangerous situation with a partner who couldn’t carry a weapon when he or she shifted into an animal, even if that partner did have fangs and claws. I wanted the best of both worlds, so I made my shifters half animal, half human. That took them in a completely different direction than you’d normally see in a paranormal romance. Here are a couple different ways my shifters are unique: Where They Come From: In X-OPS, shifters aren’t some kind of monsters, aren’t cursed to live in the darkness, their change isn’t controlled by the phases of the moon, there’s no magic involved, and they aren’t possessed by a demon (which are all…
